Sherlock Holmes

All of them more than once. There are four novels, although I might call a couple novellas: A Study in Scarlet, The Sign of Four, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and The Valley of Fear. The rest are short stories.

have you read any novels about this English detective?
I’ve read Conan Doyle, I had a two volume soft cover book including all of Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories. I also watch a ton of movies with Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett being the my two favorite portrayers of Sherlock Holmes. I’ve seen all their movies along with other actors from time to time playing Holmes. Even Tom Baker of Dr. Who fame and Peter Cushing of Dracula’s Van Helsing fame. I haven’t cared for the more recent movies. I still go back at times to watch those old movies with Rathbone and Brett from time to time. The portrayal of Dr. Watson as sort of a buffoon in the Rathbone movies was corrected in the Jeremy Brett movies. All and all, I still like them.
