Sharpton blasts attorney general over Wilson case - CNN.com
...10 years....for having consensual sex...with somebody 2 years younger then you....I don't like defending Sharpton because of how screwed up he and J.Jackson are...but are you for real? It's a shame Sharpton had to point this sad example of our legal systems at work. The judge who sentenced him should be shot in the head. Nothing to do with race. Just the fact that he sentenced a 17 year old to 10 years for having consensual sex with a 15 year old. There is no excuse for ruining this kids life. Specially when all he did was have sex.
Well, I'll be the first to admit that the sentence is excessive for the things the kid was convicted of, but there's a couple other things that make it hard for me to have too much sympathy for the guy...
He and a couple of his friends brought a 17 year old and 15 year old girl to a hotel room for new years. They all got blazed and wasted together, and then one of the guys got out a video camera and started taping the guys running the train on each of the girls. The next morning, the 17 year old wakes up in a drunken stupor, wearing only her socks, and went to the police because she said she'd been raped. The 15 year old said she had consented (despite being drunk as ****) but the 17 year old insisted that she hadn't.
At trial, they were found not guilty of the rape but guilty of the aggravated molestation. His friend took a plea bargain and got 2 years. He refused, and got 10.
Do I think it sucks for him? Yes. Do I think its a shame that someone two years older than the chick got busted for this? Of course. But do I think that some **** went down that night that wasn't kosher? Probably.
Regardless, the legislature should fix the law in a retroactive way rather than the shortsighted solution they came up with.
Edit: And it wasn't the judge that sentenced him to 10 years, it was a mandatory minimum sentence. The DA offered him a plea that would have had him out in 2, but he declined.
Did the judge watch the video? Was the girl enjoying it? The video tape would have been the deciding factor in this situation for me. If I saw the girl loving it. Her fault she got rammed by more then one dude. If it was forced. Hey 10 years and more.
I would refuse it to. If the girl had loved it and the video showed that it would seem ridiculous to even assume that I am guilty of any wrong doing.
The video would have shown whether or not it was kosher. If I know something freaky was going to go down with people I'm having a good time with. I wouldn't be drinking to the point where I can't recall what happened.
Ah kk thx. I thought it was the judge.
In a portion of a tape obtained by "Primetime," Wilson, then 17 and an honor student and star athlete who was homecoming king, is seen having intercourse with a 17-year-old girl, who was seen earlier on the bathroom floor. During the sex act, she appears to be sleepy or intoxicated but never asks Wilson to stop. Later on in the tape, she is seen being pulled off the bed.
The judge who sentenced him should be shot in the head.
