Seth MacFarlane schools Bill Maher on Covid vaccinations

Seth MacFarlane is one of the good libs... unlike Bill Maher.

On a side note, Ive always had mixed feelings about Seth MacFarlane and his work. Family Guy is meh, Cleveland Show is trash, but American Dad is excellent.

Watching now. Jesus, Maher has fallen so far. He argues like a conservative. In other words, he utilizes almost exclusively anecdotes and fallacies in his arguments.

The only reason I watch him is because he had the Socratic wisdom to proclaim many years ago that "Sometimes I comment on things I know very little about"

I got Covid (Delta variant) after being vaccinated and it was like a one day cold. No sweat.

I have been planning to get the most recent booster and waited too long, even though I knew that local Covid hospitalizations were up by 63%. Came down sick on Thursday night and Friday was hellish. Horrible headache, fever, sneezing and urinary pain. Was better yesterday - well enough to do some light exercise - but I'm still sick. Today I'm coughing.

With vaccinations - no time like the present!

Uh. Tons of people died unvaccinated.

I believe they wanted to leave their families broken.
Meh. A handgun is a better more efficient option.

I had the same thought. It was painful to watch, especially the part about anecdotal vs statistical evidence. And there's a bit of a "Karen" in there as well - "don't tell me what to put in my body." When it comes to infectious diseases, it's a collective endeavor to stop the spread. FFS, take a tiny risk to reduce substantially the risk for everyone. How is that such ****ing heavy sacrifical lift?

Maher's arguments are really lame.

An analogy is some people die in fiery car crashes because their seat belt prevents them from being thrown clear of the flames, therefore requiring people to wear seat belts is irresponsible government overreach. Nevermind that the vast majority of injuries (fatal and non-fatal) in auto crashes are a result of the occupants colliding with the inside of the car when they don't wear seat belts.

But, can't trust the government. Covid was just a hoax to make Trump look bad and lose the election of 2020.

Sorry...he didnt make Maher look stupid, he exposed his own blind stupidity. Natural immunity does not mean you wont get the virus...it means your body will develop the necessary means to fight off the virus on its own without having to be injected. What we KNOW without question is that the vaccines literally did NOTHING to prevent people from getting COVID and there is no evidence the vaccines were even effective in fighting the effects of COVID when vaccinated people got the virus.

Its REMARKABLE to me that even after the lies were exposed, the blind pro COVID vaccine crowd will still say "So? I'm still getting the boosters." I mean...good on ya...but.........

Contrary to the lies, the vaccines did not prevent you from spreading the virus. The vaccine did not prevent you from catching the virus. The vaccines didnt make you stronger if you got the virus. What then is the value of getting your 8th booster of a vaccine that even the pushers will tell you arent matching new and developing strains?

'Karen' would definitely describe Maher.

The seat belt analogy is a good one. I remember in the past a lot of right-libertarians arguing against airbags and they'd back up their argument with anecdotes of people getting hurt by them. Of course, they are allergic to data.

No one is "pro COVID" vaccine. People are pro vaccine (or not). The reason to get the Covid vaccine is the same as getting vaccinated for anything else.

There are mountains of sceintific evidence - which I'm sure people havce already directed you towards numerous times, but if they haven't a 6 second Google search will - showing that everything you say above is incorrect: the vaccine does reduce the chances that you will get sick and also reduces the effects if you get sick. That you don't want to read or understand the data is your particular brand of mis/disinformation.

I had a hospital nurse tell me that once the vaccines were available, the vast majority of people with the virus coming into the hospital were unvaccinated. It was relatively rare to have a fatal case of covid in the vaccinated, compared to the unvaccinated.

She said "I'm over it. These unvaccinated people come in, we put them on respirators to make them more comfortable and wait for them to die. There is nothing else we can do."

And the largest demographic for fatal covid cases PRE-vaccine? Hospital workers. That stat dropped significantly once they got the vaccine.

But as VanceMack says, there is no evidence the vaccines are effective. (/SARC)

Yeah, yeah. I don’t care what anyone says. The Orville sucks.

That is incorrect. The vast majority of Covid hospitalizations and Covid deaths were unvaccinated. In fact, since the start of the pandemic, over 98% of Covid deaths and hospitalizations were unvaccinated.
United States: COVID-19 weekly death rate by vaccination status, All ages (ourworldindata.org)

At this point, there are so many people that have had Covid, or are vaccinated, or both, that it doesn't really matter anymore because there are tons of antibodies in most people. Also, a vaccination is "natural immunity", there is nothing supernatural going on when you get vaccinated. In either case, your body has an immune response and antibodies for future infections.

It's interesting how many people don't understand that this is how immunology works, even after years of being inundated with information about viruses. Natural immunity, if one's body is capable of it, is always superior. If it's a condition that the body cannot develop an immune response for, or if an individual has compromised immunity for any reason, the next best options are medically-created interventions like vaccinations. It's not that complicated.
