Romney/Huntsman?
The only thing keeping Romney from a shoe in for the Oval Office is his mormon background.
For goodness sake, I wish people would let this meme die. A Gallup poll showed at least 80% of Republicans willing to vote for a Mormon (and 70% of Democrats). Romney isn't stuck at 20-25% because he's Mormon, he's stuck there because of his record in Massachusetts (especially the health care thing), and because of his flip-flops.
Romney-Huntsman is the only rational and logical choice.
That's why its won our poll...but will lose in real life. The Tea Party would never allow such an "Obamanation".
Huntsman .I think you're missing the point.
Of those VP choices, how many do you trust as a potential president?
I still think it's more likely to be Perry than Romney. We'll see what happens.
Its not rational nor logical and this is coming from a huge Huntsman fan.
Romney and Huntsman are PRESENTED as essentially the same candidate and have much of the same benefits and negatives. Huntsman attracts few new people to the ticket that Romney doesn't already attract. Huntsman detracts in a similar fashion to Romney. Huntsman brings little to a Romney Presidency from a political science stand point.
Its not rational nor logical at all but would instead go against rationality in regards to the VP choices of most of the recent elections.
Obama's VP = White Old guy who was supposedly "stronger" on Foriegn Policy and lots of experience
McCain = Young Woman who was solidly conservative
Kerry = Young charismatic southerner
Bush = Old respected thinker with "gravitas"
Dole = Progressive, more "moderate" republican
H.W. Bush = Young guy to counter the career politician
Dukakis = Southerner, Texan, who was an "elder statesmen" and experienced
Mondale = Female with a lot of fervor behind her hoping to spark emotion
The three in recent times that don't really fit it? H.W. Bush and Lieberman, both picked primarily due to their success in the primary and party urging (Doesn't fit Huntsman). And then Gore, who was extremely abnormal due to the similarities between him and Bill Clinton in terms of political reach.
Huntsman as a pick for Romney would be an illogical, trend bucking, politically stupid choice. And this is from arguably one of the forums biggest Huntsman fans.
Really? Because the post and topic only suggested what the BEST ticket was, not the best ticket in regards to who'd be the best president should romney died.
The reality is the likilihood of the VP having to take over for the President is a significantly small one.
A situaiton that has happened relatively rarely in our countries history. While I want a VP that I think could be decent at it, its not nearly as big of an issue for me as it is with the President. Especially since unlike the President the VP would theoritically, baring an assasination of inauguation day, have a fair bit of time getting first hand, direct experience on how to do the job.
If it was simply who I thought would make an okay President or be able to do the job, it'd be Huntsman, Newt, and Perry with Cain coming in 4th. However, I think in the last 3 election cycles people were brought on the ballet more for political reasons rather than a belief they'd make the best President.
I believe that Romney has the best chance of winning, but I was disappointed by a lack of other options (including options without Romney), also. Was Ron Paul left off of this list deliberately? I'm confused.
After Christie gave his endorsement, I'm pretty much assuming it's Romney. Cain will likely get torn down somewhere in between now and the start of the primaries. So thus it's just a VP choice.
Romney-Huntsman
Romney-Santorum
Romney-Cain
Romney-Perry
Romney-Bachmann
Romney-Gringrich
Why the confusion? Of COURSE he was left off deliberately. Was Ron Paul left off of this list deliberately? I'm confused.
