Once the case is made, and the evidence is all broadcast on C-SPAN, it's going to be very difficult to go on record as supporting Trump. Questions will be asked, and GOP Senators will be expected to answer. If they continue to lie in front of the camera, then there's the Democrat's campaign adds for the midterms. The longer Trump is out of office, the more the depth of his malfeasance will be made public.

Yeah even Murkowski who originally demanded that Trump resign says she can't vote to convict, so I'll be surprised if there are even 2 votes beyond Romney.
