John McCain Gets Angry Over Questions About Missed Benghazi Briefing

McCain Misses Benghazi Briefing - Business Insider

While Sen. John McCain was giving a fiery speech on the Senate floor slamming the Obama administration's handling of the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, he missed a committee briefing on the investigation from officials from the State and Defense Departments.

Of course, Sen. McCain's spokesman blamed a scheduling error as the cause for missing the meeting, but :doh. You'd think that will all the face time Sen. McCain has had over this issue, i.e., the interviews he has done on Meet the Press, Face the Nation, CNN, FoxNews, the Today Show, GMA, etc., etc., he'd make it a point NOT to miss this briefing. I don't question the Senator's love for country nor his patriotism, but you have to wonder if what folks in some circles have been saying about Sen. McCain since he lost the 2008 presidential election - that he has become more interested in keeping his name in the headlines than getting to the bottom of what really happened concerning this terror attack.

(Sidenote: I made the comment in bold before watching the video, but have heard this same things said about Sen. McCain for quite some time.)

McCain doesn't need to be there for the entire hearing, he only needs to be there for the parts that get Obama impeached.

Well, if that's the case he likely missed his opportunity.

BTW, you have to have concrete evidence that the President conducting himself in violation of the law and/or the Constitution in order to bring about impeachment charges. So far, there are NONE. But we'll let this play out and see how she goes.

So he missses the briefing. How many briefings do you think they get that aren't "prepared" and "written" down for someone to read. Last time I speculated it was that John McCain could actually read.

Says who? As long as the majority of Congress wants to issue the articles, there is nothing whatsoever to stop them. There is no judicial review of impeachment proceedings. The only check on that particular power is that the Senate holds the trial, and the people can kick the whole lot of them out of office later, but that does not stop the articles from being issued. You just hope they wouldn't, but that does not mean they cannot.

Thats not the point. He is yelling his head off for an investigation and how theres a coverup and then has the balls to miss the thing that would allow him to grill the witness to show how little he knows? Show boating pure and simple

McCain, a man for whom I have a great deal of personal respect, is appearing more and more like a bitter defeated candidate who simply hasn't gotten over his ass-whupping in 2008.

So far, Obama seems to be like Ferris Bueller, who is just a little bit smarter, a little bit smoother and a little bit bolder in doing whatever the hell he wants. And despite the odds and those trying to nail him, he just keeps evading his pursuers and avoiding taking responsibility for any of the Isht he leaves behind him.

Yes even the dead bodies. You can't read a thread on the topic without a liberal saying " Bush & WTC" and here it's a bigger crime to miss a briefing to which you can read every detail than to have an ambassador properly protected in a war zone.

I don't blame him, even if he did it on purpose. Unless one is taking a vote? Meetings are always a waste of time. I'll take the Cliff Notes version every time.

Alright, let me try this again...

Here Sen. McCain has been going around for at least the last month proclaiming how important it is to get the facts behind what happened in Benghazi that led to the death - no murder - of 4 Americans, one of which was a U.S. Ambassador - but instead of attending a very important intelligence breifing that had some of the key members who would be able to provide details of the attacks, instead of being in that meeting he was speaking on the Senate floor instead!?!

Scheduling conflict my eye!! If there really was a scheduling conflict, why didn't he just say so instead of going off on a reporter for questioning the reason behind his absence? After all, this has been a signature issue of his and Sen. Linsday Graham since Sept 12, 2012. You'd think that he of all people would make a point to be in attendance. IMO, either you put your money where your mouth is and be present during such a meeting or you shut your pie whole.

Yep, there's no reason to gather facts when you've already come to a conclusion that has nothing to do with facts.
