Mr. Swinney, who appeared at several demonstrations in the Northwest, became a “known entity” in Portland, as he instigated and committed violent acts under the banner of free speech and pro-police sentiments, prosecutors said.

10 years for a Proud Boy seems about right. Meanwhile the Waukesha white people's Christmas parade SUV mass murderer got off countless times before with little or no bail. Go figure.

Every crime ought to be punished with an appropriate sentence. Of course you have to have proof. Violence is not acceptable unless it is to defend ones self.

Answered your own question there. Most rioters are not on the side of police.

I think it is a paint ball gun wrapped in some sort of burlap cloth. If that’s true then the “smoke” is a well timed photo of the CO2 propellant. A paintball gun full of pepper balls isn’t likely to kill anyone but it will really piss off whomever it hits.

Yes, Mary, you're right, and on second thought, maybe I shouldn't be making jokes about it. One of my siblings almost lost an eye as a child after walking too close to another child who was swinging a stick. I'll never forget how swollen shut the eye was--it seemed to me to be about the size of a tangerine (I'm almost nauseated thinking about it now).

And conservatives have been complaining forever that no one was being arrested for all the 2020 summer riots.

What's your point? And Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted for murdering two people at a riot. Take it up with the local authorities.
