I started this thread to discuss assisted suicides in the sense of a person that is FULLY cognitive of his actions, but is in such pain physically, that life doesn't mean anything.

I am personally of the philosophy of that quality of life is greater than the quantity of life.

I am curious what others feel on this.

I not only believe that euthanasia is acceptable in order to end horrible suffering, but suicide in general should be more acceptable. I would always encourage people to seek solutions, of course, but if in the end they decide they don't want to live this life anymore, it should be their choice to not go on living.

I do believe though that anything can be worked through, if the will is there.

To me, it always depends on whether or not their desire is based on a psychiatric diagnosis.
