Secretary Scott Bessent Completely Humiliates a Snarky Margaret Brennan...Twice

LOL!!

I'm thinking Brennan isn't going to risk interviewing Bessent again. He has a way of making her look like an idiot.

This encounter would only be the "gatcha" moment you think it is, if tariffs did not raise the cost of the tariffed products for the end consumer.
But, the cost of the tariffed products is absorbed by the end consumer, unless the company paying the tariff decides to eat that extra cost.

Thus, all this X post has done is give @Mycroft a fleeting "shared bias" dopamine shot.

What raised costs are those? They don't show in the inflation numbers that are the lowest in 4 years, per Bessent.

Come back when this bugaboo of fear you're trying to create actually exists somewhere besides your partisan hatefest posts.

So, does that mean that you're contending tariffs are not paid for by the end consumer, unless the business that paid the tariff decides to eat said tariff?
Is that what you believe?

Lol

This is a citation to you?

Are you saying the source I linked is not creditable?

I am saying it isn't useful and can't be read for the purposes of this discussion.

Just time wasting 🗑

You missed all the companies who have already announced prices will be going up?

Those Inflation numbers are a measurement of the past. Inflation itself is lagging indicator. That means when prices go up, inflation comes after.

Math is hard for some. Let me help.
Tariffs are taxes.
Prices will go up as a result of the additional taxes.
Inflation will follow.
The whipsaw on again off again tariffs are a very bad idea - for many reasons.
Inflation is only one of them.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

What matters to consumers is the CPI...that is, what they end up paying.

All the "predictions", "estimates" and "what MIGHT happen" are irrelevant.

As Bessent said, let's wait and see what happens.

Actually the opposite. Bessent actually knows the score and the game. Tariffs are, by definition, inflationary. There is no denying that. The fact we have yet to feel the inflation is somewhat moot, as inflation is a trailing indicator. You get a inflation number only after you already start feeling the inflation.

He is merely telling us the weather in the eye of hurricane is good, while deflecting any conversation about what is to come. Any weatherman that implies the weather in the eye of the hurricane means anything other than the weather of the moment, is lying.... and comes across as idiot trying to sell his wares to people that also know the score.

Bessent knows it, wall street street knows it, all economists know it.... The "tape" with memorialize that he was the idiot in the interview today; but hey, it got him through the day and Trump's useful idiots can enjoy a few more nights of sleep.

Negative GDP might have something to do with disinflation. Just sayin'

Bye
Yep, it has everything to do with the fact we have yet to feel the inflation. Of course, negative GDP + inflation = economic disaster.

The tariffs are on pause, so of course they don't show up.

Trump can't make up his mind. If and when the tariffs take effect, prices will go up.
