Schools brace for MAHA changes to lunches

This is not going to work unless there is an influx of money to pay for this. And we know the pedo president wont send money,




The Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement is taking aim at school lunches in a move advocates say is unrealistic without devoting more federal resources to K-12 students.

While some schools can only afford to buy frozen meals that are heated up and served, the Trump administration is looking for freshly cooked meals that will take more employees and ingredients to put together.

The MAHA Commission was required to send over recommendations to the White House by Tuesday to combat childhood chronic diseases, a document experts and advocates are eagerly awaiting. But three people familiar with the matter told CNN the report will not be released immediately to the public, keeping schools on their toes as it is expected to impact their food.

“We’re guessing at this point what we think that the report is going to say around school nutrition, but we have a few hints. RFK Jr. has said that school lunch programs have deteriorated. He’s mentioned how many ultraprocessed foods are in school meals. He’s suggested that school meals are poisoning children. … I think we’re all pretty much anticipating something around that,” said Meghan Maroney, campaign manager for federal child nutrition programs at the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

Our district proudly provides breakfast and lunch to all of our students.

I love kids but they are, as a general rule, assholes. The reason meals are served to all students regardless of need is because the students that have bullied the students that don't have.

Trump loves American over processed crap food, the funny part is that RFK jr was brought along to appease conspiracy sensitive moms and that it worked.
 
There's some remarkable arrogance involved in forcing local school districts to serve certain things a certain way ... while taking away the resources they had for obtaining food suited to that purpose.

This is super important, because it's nearly impossible to send your kid to school with a baloney sandwich and a bag of chips.

As for funding ? my GF has been a school teacher for years, ran a school, I know several other school teachers. There is much questionable spending at schools especially administration. ( Among school personnel, teachers' staffing numbers rose 32 percent, while administrators and other non-teaching staff experienced growth of 46 percent, 2.3 times greater than the increase in students over that 18-year period;

As for the cutting of a billion ... ""Unlike the Biden Administration, which funneled billions in [Commodity Credit Corporation] funds into short-term programs with no plan for longevity, USDA is prioritizing stable, proven solutions that deliver lasting impact," a USDA spokesperson said in an email to CBS MoneyWatch. "


But I will agree if a billion is cut in favor of a better was -the proven solutions need to be in place as well. But nobody should complain about moves towards healthier foods for kids

Because American politics are just tribal rage-monkey contests now. Caring about intellectual or moral consistency is seen as an indication that one isn't with the Team.
 
The problem is the removing of the federal resources. Schools should serve breakfast and lunch, and it should be just part of school services.

It's ok to want to make sure that what the schools are serving healthy food, but we have to give them the resources to do so.
