Atheists, humanists, agnostics and many Christians are supportive of the rights of all Americans, not just the ones who fit into a specific category. The point in all of this mess, is that no religion should be given space on publicly-owned land. BUT, If one sect is allowed, all sects must be allowed
I agree that all should.. provided they all follow the rules equally, and all are sincere in their intentions.
I vehemently disagree with barring all of them , though.... I support religious freedom, I don't oppose it.
my point about atheists is that if they were consistent, they would oppose the satanists churches actions as they do the Christians church actions....but American atheists are a weird lot, they only have a hard-on for Christians.
You only 'know' about atheists from those who see any actions or words from non-believers as oppressive. What the enemy says about the opponent is seldom complete truth
I agree with your last sentence... your first sentence means nothing, as you are assuming something about me ..without basis.
which makes me wonder why athiests here are supportive of the satanists holiday display...
in any event, i don't care who puts what up for a holiday display on public land...it ain't none of my business.
it's not like a satanist display is going to be taken seriously anyways <shrugs>
The "basis" of my earlier replies are your comments, without your words I would not have posted as I did.
AND now back to the topic
Are you suggesting Satanism is a lesser religion than others?
of course it's a lesser religion.. there's very few members in comparison to major religions.
Sure less people follow Satanism, that is true but why would that mean it shouldn't be taken as seriously as religions like Christianity, Islam, Scientology, etc. ?
should or shouldn't is irrelevant...
it isn't... that's just the reality of it.
be that at it may, my point is that their display won't be taken seriously.... most folks will either ignore it entirely, think they are trolling, or be offended... there's no benefit for the church of Satan
they should be able to legally put put their display, no doubt about it... but to think they will be taken seriously is simple wishful thinking.
Is that what the subject Satanists of this thread believe? I honestly don't believe they have the wit or understanding of any of this.Satanists aren't atheists and atheists aren't Satanists. Why are some finding this statement so difficult to believe.
Atheist doesn't simply mean a person doesn't believe in your god, it means belief in no gods. True Satanists see Lucifer as a deity equal to, if not superior to YWHW. Satanists believe in the Abrahamic god's existence but that it is not worthy of their worship.
of course it's a lesser religion.. there's very few members in comparison to major religions.
It can be both, depending on the context. But who are we to nitpick? That would make it smaller, not lesser.

The devil made her do it.Some person took it seriously enough to damage the Satanic Temple's display
Satanic Temple display damaged, woman in custody

And we're surprised how? Nobody is out destroying Christian displays but Christians are apparently a bunch of hooligans.
