San Francisco HHS workers dismayed after receiving layoff notices

But, but, they voted for Trump.

"My king, my king, why hast thou forsaken me?"
HHS workers on the West Coast voted for Trump?

6,081,697 people in California voted for Trump. You think none of them worked for HHS?
How do you know the jobs were needed?

BTW- 217 FedEx workers are losing their jobs in Nashville. Does that have you equally outraged or are they exempt because they are not one of your sacred cows entrenched in US Governemnt.?

He doesn't. The left likes to throw out statements they call truth but can't back them up.

Why do you think that they were not?
You spend all your time here figuring out how to kiss Trump’s ass
FedEx workers don’t deal with the health of people.
Sacred cows exist in India - this is not India.

I don't know? Does the government control jobs in the private sector like gas and oil and food?

Did FedEx comply with RIF requirements under the WARN Act?

If they did, they are covered. If they broke the law they should be sued.

(BTW - THere are civil service RIF laws also.)

See how Biden grew the federal workforce and then you will know why Trump is doing all this. We were staffed correctly during Trump's first term, we're just trying to return back to those levels.

HHS had the same headcount under Biden as it did under Trump. If that number reflects being "staffed correctly," then arbitrarily slashing by 20% sounds like a real disaster in the making.

Whatever... They need to make cut anywhere they can without having the place fall apart. Deficit is out of control. We can't grow our way out of that problem.

Headcount plays virtually no role in the deficit.

The entire federal civilian payroll is ~$25B/month. Federal spending in February was $37B higher than it was in February of last year. Eliminating the entire federal civilian workforce and eliminating those $25B in payroll obligations wouldn't even have gotten us back to last year's spending levels.

Spending is a huge problem. We finally got the right people on the job and we cut where ever we can.

Spending is up under Trump/Musk, not down. We're just getting less for our money now.

Well yes. The solution is called “raising taxes.” The answer to deficits and massive debt is to raise taxes to cover the deficits and pay down the debt. Ideally through the passage of higher progressive income tax and the passage of a national wealth tax on super wealthy estates.

You mean... keep doing what we've been doing? Spending was suppose to be tied to needs, but clearly spending is tied to revenue. That's the root problem. That's why we end up paying people to do nothing.
