Russia's Federal Security Service, the FSB, caught this guy, Ryan C. Fogle, who is posted as the third secretary in the political section at the USA's Moscow Embassy in the act. When caught, he had a load of €500 notes and spy-stuff with him.
Fogle's mama didn't help him out at all. When reached by phone she said, "I have nothing to say." IOW: You've got him dead to rights, throw the book at him. :lamo

Try it again, I fixed the link.
Here's an 'interesting' video: BBC News - Video footage of 'CIA agent' Ryan Fogle detained in Russia
Obviously the end of the 'Cold War' did not end spying.

Thanks now I read it. But I do not see what the laughing matter is?
Your spy was caught! Why can't you send a decent capable spy over there to reach people all the way to the top as you should be?

A question for the Democrats. They are the ones with most of the power, right now. Thanks now I read it. But I do not see what the laughing matter is?

The USA spies on everyone.
Especially conservatives and those Americans who are informed.
Of course not. You don't even need antagonism to spy on each other. Israel spies on the United States, and we spy on them.
Especially conservatives and those Americans who are informed.
Sounds mutually exclusive, like military intelligence... Perhaps the wording should be 'Especially conservatives OR those Americans who are informed.'
I don't think the ability of our spies rests to much on whatever party 'holds the most power right now'. Seems we have gone from human intelligence gatherers to electronic spying. From high over head to monitoring the interwebz we seem to have invested in from a distance spying over the traditional recruiting dissident natives overseas. Israel was pretty good at turning US Citizens in government, Federal law enforcement and our military to spy for them. Perhaps we should outsource our spies on the ground to them.
Globalization of the old school cloak and dagger trade....eace
I haven't done any real research, so I don't know this for a fact, but my guess is that the USA might employ almost as many spies as the rest of the world combined.
We don't know the real numbers because they're another secret.
What do you think?
My phone number is blocked at the Obama White House.
I must be on Obama's "enemy list."
May explain why two IRS audits in two years.

If all the worlds kings where to swap spies then only all the average people would be victims. That I agree. There should be no antagonism even when the spies are caught even. See here we caught 3 Deutch spies in Dardania the other day handed them over to Deutchland by plane. No biggie:

Electronic spying has been going on since the telegraph, telephone, and radio were invented.
The NSA is by far the largest agency doing this for the USA, but it's not the only player.
Shrub, remember there are many unknowledgable people in America who have been dumbed down today who have no idea who Western Union is or have ever used a rotary dial phone.
A few months ago a friend of mine who's a Jew and in his late twenties asked be if I knew where he could get one of those JAP phones. I asked what do you mean, JAP phone ? "A Princess phone " he replied. One of those Jewish American Princess (JAP) phones for his daughter.
