This is likely to come off along the council elections in May.
I would normally be hoping for a labour win but not this time.

The current labour regime is not a socialist government and losing this by election would give them a bloody nose. One they richly deserve.

Its a shame that the reform rabble will benefit but that is a price we will have to pay.

Reeves is tying herself in knots and I fail to understand why. Slap a wealth tax on the oil companies and open a negotiation to get back in the EU.
These measures should happen before punishing poor people.

This is just toryism by another name.

That Smarmer's Labour party is a bit less socialist than his predecessor's is the only good thing about it.

We're not rejoining the EU anytime soon. The Leavers still believe that they were right and you won't get past the easy lies they can tell.

Certainly we should be looking to develop employment opportunities but also encouraging people to go out and get jobs. We still have a huge number of economically inactive people.

Is that a door you really want to open?

I think the door is wide open for reform. Starmer inherited a mess but he ha done little to improve anything.

People are crying out for change but he seems ineffective. Look at the sewage figures today. Nothing gets done.
A brexit reverse is the first step. People would vote for it because they have seen the damage.

How can the door be wide open for Reform and we have a Brexit reverse at the same time?

All theLemmings who voted to Leave would do it again. I have always stated it would take 10-20 years of economic decline to put this to bed. The EU will not be interested in voting to allow us back in if there is a still a sizeable rump that wants to do it all again.

I agree that th EU will be wary. Maybe the Ukraine crisis will bind us closser together. But it has been so awful I think it would sail thru. Ecerything about it has been a lie. And it is getting worse.
And it will get even worse.
We havent reacjed bottom yet. The american trade deal will illustrate that.

Reform is tearing each other apart right now though.

Its basically a one man band stuffed with old tories. They cant organise nationally and havent got quality people. They are just a protest vote and a lot of their new converts are resigning with Lowe.
Farage is pushing the paying for the NHS today. Thats the end of populism.

We havent reacjed bottom yet.

Yep, there's a long way to go. Most Reform supporters look only at GDP and see our growth, they don't looks at the sectors to see how unsustainable that is for the rest of the UK labour force.

It's mainly digital services where growth has happened.

Maybe the Ukraine crisis will bind us closser together.

It will bind different nations I believe and in different ways. Canada and Australia have developed closer ties to Europe and Ukraine and rather than rejoin the EU, I think ultimately a different partnership is needed.
You have to remember that Putin's pals Orban and Fico are still there and highly likely to block our rejoining - under instruction from Moscow.

Its basically a one man band stuffed with old tories.

The members expelled previously demonstrate that Reform also appealed to the Tommy Robinson EDL types who wanted to beat muslims up on the street. The one good thing abut these types is that they will follow Farage around like flies around shit and try and get Robinson a membership and Farage will block it and then have internal strife around whether he would let Robinson in.

Self defeating types.

If you asked an average kipper what GDP is they would just blink at you before hitting you with their bottle of stella.

What's "kipper", if I may ask?

Or "Gammon"

The equivalent of an American redneck. UKIP supporter - they became known as "Gammons" for all the red-faced sunburnt Brits living in Spain voting to leave the EU and not realising they were voting to reduce their own rights in Europe. Gammon because Gammon pork can be thick, red and slightly sunburnt looking.

I akways thought it was because of the angry red faced kipper who would always appear on question time to whine about "bloody foreigners" .

Desperate Tories looking at strategic voting with Reform UK?

Esther McVey says her party should let Reform win Runcorn by-election

Senior Tory MP Esther McVey has called for her party to ‘let Reform win’ the upcoming Runcorn and Helsby by-election in a leaked recording.
In the recording, obtained by the Telegraph, McVey says the Tories should step aside in the Runcorn election to help Reform’s chances of winning the seat.
The by-election is taking place on May 1 after the constituency’s MP Mike Amesbury resigned after he was sentenced for punching a constituent in the street.
Reform are currently neck-a-neck with Labour in the polls.

McVey said helping Reform in Runcorn could be part of a wider electoral pact between the Tories and Nigel Farage‘s party in the next general election.

McVey said in the recording: “You’d probably say, yeah, let Reform win that seat because you might need them in the South West so we win a seat.”
She continued: “When we get to the general election, would I be looking at an electoral pact [with Reform]? Absolutely I would! We don’t want two right wing parties cutting our own throats and Labour getting in.”

McVey said this was simply “pragmatism,” and the Conservatives should give up seats where they came a “very distant fourth” and Reform came second.

I think in real terms the tories have already stepped aside, Has there ever been a more depressing time for voters ? Tory lite or nutters.

I'm curious.
You were likening Marine le Pen to "Joan of Arc" on another thread and several Americans have been posting about "democracy being killed off" but none of you here, and in the outside world there's not been a peep from Trump nor Musk posting about Amesbury being asked to step down.

We all know why but I'm wondering if it registers with any of you guys.

And it's obvious you only care when white nationalists are affected. Anyone else affected by the same principle just doesn't matter to you does it?

Nothing to do with my virtuosity or otherwise, just making sure any readers of your posts are fully aware of your bias when you plead for fascists and neo-nazis to get special treatment or get undemocratic access to power.
