...Russian Stock Exchange has suspended trade on all markets after collapsing about 10 per cent immediately after it opened.
A couple paragraphs in between showing the exchange rates.
Looks like the sanctions are already working.
Doesn't matter. Putin wealth is endless
**** Putin.
War depresses everyone and this asshole might just started WW3.
I doubt Putin cares. No one wants war even in Russia. I'm sure Putin calculated how negativily this will affect their economy but Putin is just doing what he wants. No tyrant rules without the support of the oligarchs. If the wealthy in Russia decide that Putin is bad for business he will be gone.
But a bigger concern is ordinary Russians feeling squeezed economically and questioning Putin's decisions.
And then complain how the dems never let a good crisis go to waste. Is everything about money to republicans?Buy some rubles now while they are low and sell them when they rise again for a little profit, never let a crisis go to waste
The Russian people need to oust Putin now. Unless they like economic collapse, of course.
You gotta know that’s happening.Buy some rubles now while they are low and sell them when they rise again for a little profit, never let a crisis go to waste
That may be but they still have the highest poverty rate of any developed economy and rampant corruption. It wouldn't take an all-out collapse to warrant deposing Putin's regime.Food wise Russia can produce what they need, nearly everything else they can buy from Asia. The raw materials Russia sells to Europe or the US can be redirected to Asia as well. Russia won’t collapse, and over time it will be stronger. 10 years ago it was importing wheat, now it is if I recall correctly it is the largest exporter.
Compared to what it was before Putin, it has improved. As it is still generally in poor condition, sanctions won't be much of an issue. That may be but they still have the highest poverty rate of any developed economy and rampant corruption. That Helsinki image and shitshow should never be forgiven by any American.Putin’s hanging with bad influences probably hasn’t helped, either.

It's not manipulated. Perspective. Notice the bent knees. You see the difference there. That photo has to be manipulated in some way. Putin is a good 5 inches shorter than Trump. So it was either taken at an angle that make Putin look taller or Trump is slouching heavily, or a combination of both
The Russian economy is in poor condition. More than two decades in power, Putin owns it.Compared to what it was before Putin, it has improved. As it is still generally in poor condition,
Nonsense.sanctions won't be much of an issue.
More nonsense. The UK/EU, as a whole, will bear the burdens of sanctions far better than Russia and the Russian people, who are already beginning to protest Putin’s foolish, reckless move.Sanctions will hurt Europe in general more than it will hurt Russia. Russia will just have to redirect its exports east to Asia, and Asian imports will replace ones from Europe. The Russian upper middle class will be upset most as European luxury goods will be harder to buy.

And redirecting exports won’t be as simple as switching tracks on toy train set, either.
For countries unconcerned by Putin’s invasion of a neighboring country, and still willing to buy exports, sanctions or threats of sanctions will have a significant impact.
Germany’s refusing to certify Nord Stream 2 is just first significant hit of many to come to Putin.
Putin’s only sane option is to withdraw from Ukraine before things get much worse for Ukrainians and Russians.
Understood. Nord Stream 2 wasn’t expected to be online for several months however, Germany’s notice is a clear notice that the country is ready to take the hit of giving up what was expected to be a mutually beneficial arrangement in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty.Nord Stream was being delayed as it was. Sanctions will mean no natural gas, it takes time to ramp up for LNG imports, new facilities need to be built.
Name the Asian countries that you believe will step up to buy Russian oil and provide supporting evidence, if possible.Redirecting exports means sending them on a ship to Asia rather than train to Europe. The Asian market is large enough to accept it. The Asian market can supply Russia with all the manufactured goods it can not make itself. Russian oil, gas and minerals are harder to find replacements for
China for one,Understood. Nord Stream 2 wasn’t expected to be online for several months however, Germany’s notice is a clear notice that the country is ready to take the hit of giving up what was expected to be a mutually beneficial arrangement in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty.

As for other other commodities, how much $ does Putin/Russia lose in making adjustments?
No, sanctions won’t be easy at all for Putin.
China was a given. Jinping isn’t going to be Putin’s sugar daddy though.China for one,
India doesn’t currently buy any oil from Russia.India tends to have good relations with Russia, but I do not think pipelines currently go to India from Russia.
Actual damage to an economy, and perceived hardships are not the same.Russia will take a hit, but Europe will be hit harder as they would have to replace Russian gas with LNG imports at much higher prices. Russians already poor, won't feel much, Europeans, not poor will feel the hit more
The exports from Russia are needed on the world stage (ie Europe and US) more than Russia needs imports from the US and EuropeChina was a given. Jinping isn’t going to be Putin’s sugar daddy though.
India doesn’t currently buy any oil from Russia.
* Correction; India does import about 10% of it’s petroleum products from Russia.
Actual damage to an economy, and perceived hardships are not the same.
UK/EU citizen’s (and Americans, to a lesser extent) pain will be brief. Russia’s will not be.
The U.S. imports 7% of it’s oil from Russia. Not nothing. Not a lot more than nothing, either. We can make up the loss from other sources much easier than the UK/EU.The exports from Russia are needed on the world stage (ie Europe and US) more than Russia needs imports from the US and Europe
Not pertinent. That rich Russians will have difficulties staying in London, is not going to hurt the Russian economy
