To be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year.....

Carly Simon, Pat Benatar, Eurythmics featuring Annie Lennox, Dolly Parton, Elizabeth "Libba" Cotten (her unique guitar style is where the term "cotten picking" originated), Sylvia Robinson (singer, songwriter, producer, and founder of hip hop label Sugar Hill Records), Duran Duran, Eminem, Lional Richie, Harry Belafonte, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis (an American R&B/pop songwriting and record production team), Judas Priest, Allen Grubman (an American entertainment lawyer), and Jimmy Iovine (an American entrepreneur, record executive, and media proprietor best known as the co-founder of Interscope Records).

Congrats to all!

Dolly Parton is so humble. She said she never even considered being voted into the R&R Hall of Fame because her focus was in the country. genre.
Too cute. I just love her. !

Lamer and lamer each year.

And, again, where is Harry Nillsson, Warren Zevon, Captain Beefheart?

Lionel Ritchie? FFS:rolleyes:

Duran Duran?
Per Wikipedia:

Duran Duran has sold over 100 million records, making them one of the world's best-selling music artists. They achieved 30 top 40 singles in the U.K., 14 singles in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart and 21 in the US Billboard Hot 100. The band have won numerous awards throughout their career: two Brit Awards including the 2004 award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, two Grammy Awards, an MTV Video Music Award for Lifetime Achievement, and a Video Visionary Award from the MTV Europe Music Awards. They were also awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

What about Suicide?

The Hall of fame is the antithesis of rock and roll to me.

LOL!

I know who Duran Duran is but I really, REALLY don't see them as HOF material.

I had never heard of Elizabeth Cotten; interesting story with an intersection with the Pete Seeger family. Learned to play a guitar strung for right-handed players by using it upside-down.

Edit: Harry Belafonte seems a little late, imo.

You might have noticed that the word "FAME" is in "HALL OF FAME."
Yes. Well if "fame" and "name recognition" are the same thing then I guess they are deserving. Can't have too high a standard for such things or somebody might feel left out.
