How sad. His mind was such a gift.

They were an amazing couple. I really admired their commitment to each other in spite of so many difficulties. That's something we don't see enough of, these days.

May they both rest in peace.
 
I'll add my condolences as well - I don't know if they had children, but that would be a terrible shock to lose both your parents in one tragedy.

Something just seems dumb about someone living to such an age, or otherwise surviving some great adversity, only to die in such a dumb way. It reminds me of Desmond Llewelyn, an actor who lived to a similar age, and then died in a car accident.

Such is life. When I was a new EMT, we were on the 710 fwy in the carpool lane when a big rig tire flew off a truck ahead of us, and bounced through the windshield of the car in front of us, it then flew up and hit my ambulance, triggering the camera.

The tire crushed the woman in the passenger seats head and chest, and she died in under 3 minutes. As Im working on her, the driver tells me they are two sisters, going to the third sisters funeral when this happened. The CHP still uses that video for training I am told.

Life is absolutely stranger than fiction.

They did.
 

How ironic, to think of all they had been through, only to die in a crash. As an aside, I notice that his wife is not included in the headlines, even though she died, too. Did she matter? I guess not.
