Capitalism claims to be a benefit to the consumer. How is the corporate consolidation (takeover) of the media by right-wing billionaires a benefit to consumers who are not right-wing, want a functioning democracy, and don't want narratives bought and manipulated by Trump's allies and genocide supporters?

And where does this end?

Don't worry. There's plenty of left wing news sources.

🟦 Left-Wing News Aggregators

These sites tend to support progressive, liberal, or democratic socialist viewpoints:
Site NameDescription
MediaiteCovers politics and media with a liberal slant
Drudge ReportOriginally conservative, now seen as more centrist or left-leaning
AdbustersAnti-consumerist and leftist cultural critique
Common DreamsProgressive news and opinion aggregation
TruthoutInvestigative journalism with a social justice focus
AlterNetLeft-leaning news and opinion from independent sources
Democracy Now!Independent global news with a progressive lens

That doesn't address my question whatsoever. Most of those sources aren't even News Sources. They're blogs, magazines and aggregators (i.e. not sources). And what is to prevent the right-wing from dismantling those alternative sources?

If billionaires pour billions of dollars into corporate-fellating fake news and shutting down alternative viewpoints, how does that benefit the consumer?

Actually, capitalism is what will fight this. Left-leaning media won't go away, and people won't be forced into watching Trump approved media.

The free market will sort it out. If viewers don't like what Trump is offering through state media, they won't watch.

Another example. The dominant outlet, with a near monopoly on independent video commentary, is YouTube. So if you want to see videos with great independent commentators, you see it on YouTube.

But a top pro-Muslim show is the 'CJ Werleman' channel. He's a voice for Palestinians against the rogue terrorist state. YouTube is owned by Google. Google has a large relationship with that state, getting a lot of money from them. And they just demonitized that channel, threatening its viability. Whathca gonna do about it, is the attitude.

Conservative and right-wing control of all forms of media in the US, i.e. print, radio, network, and cable is a disturbing fact in the US but it has been a slow process beginning in the late 80s and sparked by removal of the Fairness Doctrine by the FCC.

this began in the 1960's and now they control most of the media in this country down to local TV stations and the news they broadcast.

From the department of every accusation is a confession.

Sinclair owns NBC News 4* and Fox 11 here locally. I don't frequent either one. Their respective websites mimic each other in article placement, and the broadcasts are similar. They're competent local news stations, but not what I've watched. I watch the local CBS or ABC news. CBS is Sarkes Tarzian and ABC is Gray Media.

* The official owner of News 4 is Cunningham Broadcasting in which Sinclair has a controlling interest.

This kinda puts a dent in the MSM/Fox dichotomy. One of the Big Three MSM is controlled by Sinclair here. That's acceptable. If it stays this way.

Sinclair media was and probably is the biggest culprit in local news takeovers.

The media needs to be broken up and actually be competitive.

That would be the job of the government but the government is bought by the same billionaires who bought the media.

They are trashing education. They want America to be stupid and poorly informed so they can rape government, cut taxes for the rich as they implement taxes on all imports, which are paid by all the rest of us who buy anything just to survive.

We effectively have taxation with no representation. We are essentially back to 1775 with a ruthless king who sends troops into our cities and does whatever he pleases with unchecked power.

Meanwhile the American right thinks being mean to liberals and immigrants is making the country great as they forfeit our rights to the dictator-king convict and place him on a pedestal when he should be in prison.
