Because he was a poor candidate and made poor decisions. I also suspected him of suffering from PTSD
So the GOP backed a poor candidate for U.S. President, who may have been suffering from PTSD?.....& you don't see that as unpatriotic on the part of the GOP?
The voters choose who the voters choose. I'm not a Republican so I didn't have any say about who they would pick.
The fact remains that Ridge was not, by his own words, pressured to do anything.
But based on your obvious mistrust/dislike of the GOP, wouldn't you agree that we American voters should discount anything they say about HC reform, economic policies or anything else since they obviously care nothing about our country & are willing to back a bad Presidential candidate who you think may even be mentally ill?
In his new book, the first Homeland Security chief, Tom Ridge, accuses top aides to President George W. Bush of pressing him to raise the terror alert level to influence the 2004 presidential election.
Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.

The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.

No. That's an absolutely insane conclusion to jump to. McCain was a well known name and people liked him. I didn't think he was the right person for the job. I don't distrust Republicans anymore than I distrust Democrats. I don't believe either party is good for the country.
Because he was a poor candidate and made poor decisions. I also suspected him of suffering from PTSD
I love to watch a guy debate himself!
What? The fact that I didn't vote for McCain doesn't mean I don't agree with a many general Republican policies.
I also suspected him of suffering from PTSD
You just admitted that they (GOP) backed a man who you believe may be mentally ill! (doesn't sound very patriotic/trust inspiring to me on the part of the GOP)
I don't think most people in the GOP share my view of the Senator, so they could have whatever reasons they like for supporting him. Again, this thread is about Ridge. I'd be happy to discuss the possibilities of McCain having PTSD if you feel like starting a thread about it.
You brought it up in this thread, not me.
You asked my opinion, I gave it and then changed attempted to get the thread back on track. Do you have anything else to add about Ridge or do you want to start a different thread about whatever other "theories" you may have?
I made all my points.
Except that he didn't.Since Ridge has now joined many other former Bush Admin. personnel in accusing Bush personnel of crimes,
What? Since when does not voting for a guy mean that I find his entire political party to be untrustworthy?& since you now admit that the GOP is an untrustworthy party,
I suspect that he is. I'm not sure of that. And it's hardly as though the entire party was behind him anymore than all Democrats were for Obama.willing to do anything to retain power, (including backing a mentally ill man for President)......
Do you realize how crazy that sounds?Don't you now agree that no one should listen to a single word the GOP says about anything?
And when refuted by the guy who wrote the book, still would rather believe the publisher because it falls in line with what you believe about Bush. When proven wrong you attempt to throw out slogans after making assumptions about the person you're debating with. Classy.
Last time:
The publisher was quoting Ridge (you can deny, hide & try to change the subject, but that is a fact)
No. They weren't. They summarized what he said to make it into something the press would want to repeat.
They (publisher) gave direct quotes from Ridge....not summaries.
Being able to admit when you are wrong takes integrity & maturity which you appear to lack, imo.....At least in this case.
I asked you three times to post the accusation and all three times you declined. The accusation obviously came b4 that statement....Try to keep up.
Direct quotes like, "I was never directed to do so no matter how many analysts, pundits or critics say so."
and you expect an indictment based on the allegations of the publisher? He says he was "Pressed" to do so, which is a crime. He was never "Directed" to meanuing "Ordered" to....but "Pressed" to is still a felony, regardless of the word game you are trying to play. It depends on what your definition of Is ..Is!
& thanks....I did just come back from the gym.

If anything at all he was given advice in the face of a credible threat. He disagreed with the threat and didn't raise the level. That is not pressure.
Ridge disagrees with you. He said he was "Pressed" to do it & that, my friend is a violation of the Hatch Act.
