Richard Dreyfuss on New Oscars Diversity Rules: ‘They Make Me Vomit’

CNN

Actor Richard Dreyfuss is not a fan of the Academy Awards’ new diversity guidelines.

Officials announced in 2020 that beginning in 2024, movies must meet certain criteria for representation to be eligible for the Academy Award for best picture.

Films have to meet at least two of four benchmarks, which cover – among other things – whether the lead actors are from underrepresented groups or if at least 30% of the cast and crew come from these groups.

What do you think he can do about it besides rant?

Word it and project it how you will.

Getting the truth out is what it is.

Embrace it.

Probably some other famous actors agree with him.

But if they are relatively young, it would be foolish for their careers to say it out loud.

As one commentator said, he may be coming to the end of a distinguished career, so that is why he had the courage to speak out.

As I understand it, no motion picture can be eligible for certain awards if it fails to include various ethnicities and sexualities.

He's replacing a point he does not want to address for another point that he does want to address.

And the left eats their own, once again.

The guy is a legend.

He paid his dues. He's not going to put up with this nonsense.

Paid his dues? What on earth are you talking about?
He gave up his roles to a black man over and over?

Lol - indeed.
Talk about a "rigged" compettion when you have to fill a quota of who has to win.
When diversity is the focal point, and merit takes a backseat.

They ruined the Oscars. Plain and simple.

It isn't fair for those who truly deserves to win.......................................and, it isn't fair to most diversed people - especially those who are still unknown - who truly deserves the trophy.
People automatically think they won due to their diversity!

Lol - what next? The races?
Let the colored horses win! 😁

The whole Oscar thing is just a mutual back-slapping exercise anyway. Does anyone really want to listen to a sobbing, over-emotional starlet thanking god and her producer?

It's bad enough when they're sobbing......................................but, oh boy, it's excruciating when they start ranting about politics!
One is left to hope that they get dragged off-stage!

You're talking about an industry in which, for years, Asians, Native Americans, and other non-Whites were played by white actors.

And now Richie's aggravated, lol...
