Many of my Trump-fan friends are particularly interested in increasing our regulations on the food industry for the sake of health and safety. I actually favor this, but I'm so dubious about the Trump Administration going this direction even if Kennedy serves. This is aside from the vaccine debates, just about food additives. What are your thoughts?

It's interesting to observe the flip-flop. Righties are all about having as few protective regulations as possible, but suddenly RFK, Jr. comes along and they claim to want healthy foods.

First step is for everyone to actually care what's in your food. Next is to ensure proper labeling so people can make their own decision on what to eat and what not to eat. We should also educate the people as to additives, their benefits and their possible known side effects.

Sounds exactly like what Michelle Obama wanted.

Not just food additives. American dairy farmers feed a growth hormone to their cattle that's banned in Canada and Europe but increases milk production by 10%.

Yeah right, we all know that ranch bottle won't pried from their cold dead hands.

The real difference between the left and right in this are is: Should there be regulations and standards put on manufacturers or should consumers just read the label and make their own choices?

how about we give it chance before we lose our minds,,

its already well known the USA allows toxic chemicals in foods the rest of the world bans because they are toxic,,

For more than 30 years now, I have paid attention to food ingredients. I probably end up paying at least 15% more than most people for the same types of food, and even more since I will buy things like Shrimp from Antarctic, salmon, etc.

Here is a delicious snack I just finished today. It is not cheap like the ones filled with artificial crap. I will be going to the store to buy more:

Michelle Obama wanted clearer labeling. For example, she believed that portion sizes on a label should be what a consumer would actually consider a portion. For example, a candy bar should not be labeled as 2 servings as that would be misleading to consumers.

Only those who failed miserably at math.

He may be eccentric enough to not fall prey to the food lobbyist that have thoroughly and completely corrupted our government and the FDA.
The points he brings up are refreshing, because it is about f*cking time it is brought to national attention.
He is an odd guy. No doubt. But if his weirdness gets changes like this done - I support him 100% to do it

The problem is that people often get a small bag of chips, see that it's 170 calories a serving, and eat the whole bag not realizing that it's 2.5 servings. It's deceptive labeling for consumers.

I have been a fanatic about my training and fitness my entire adult life, but most people are not and are not that aware of what a healthy diet looks like and how big servings actually are.

So often, we have little choice--either because the healthier is generally unavailable or it is priced extremely high.

our biggest problem isnt calorie intake its that we are eating whats considered toxic chemicals in most of the world,,

RFK's fruitloops comparison is about as clear as you can get it,,

we use toxic chemicals for flavoring and coloring and the rest of the world uses real fruits and veg for their flavorings and colors,,

I don't think we need regulation. Labeling and proper determination into what if any any of these food additives have effects on people sure.

I believe in this area RFK is well intended. I also believe Trump could not care less about nutrition or food additives. He'll ignore RFK and let him dabble around the edges but if the food industry balks he'll throw RFK under the bus.

thats a regulation,,,

the problem is people in governemnt are confusing regulation with restrictions,,

informing the people is good,,

restricting the people is bad,,

She sold out and caved to the food lobbyist and changed her campaign to be about exercise.
She began by attacking snack foods and sugary foods that were specifically made for children.
Lobbyist pressured - and she caved.
She wanted to put sugar on the nutrition labels, and when it was - heralded this as a great accomplishment.
It was not. Why? Because the food lobbyist agreed only if they left off the "percentage of diet" that the sugar level was.
Making the sugar in grams useless - because most Americans have no frigging clue what a gram is, and what is the daily recommended amounts.
