VATICAN CITY, April 26 (Reuters) - In front of hundreds of world leaders attending the funeral of Pope Francis on Saturday, Italian Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re called for care for migrants, an end to wars, and action on global climate change - Francis' favourite political themes.

Re repeated one of the pope's strongest criticisms of U.S. President Donald Trump, with Trump himself present in the crowd, by calling to "build bridges, not walls".

Trump and the pope exchanged criticisms over a decade, mostly related to the pope's plea for compassion for migrants, a group Trump has repeatedly sought to deport.

Another episode of Christians against Trump. This time The Vatican instead of Bishop Budde.

Like you give a rats ass about Republicans reaching out and being nice to Democrats, and that goes for every single democrat voter on this forum.

You're a leftist team player.

All you and every other democrat on this forum cares about is slamming and villainizing anyone who isn't on your team.

Most of you don't even have lives to live outside of this forum.

So what’s your opinion on Trump being informed of a better morality during the sermon?

Cool. How many migrants are they taking into Vatican City?

Apparently, neither do you.

Italy has its share of anti-immigrant politicians, including in the ruling coalition, and Vatican criticism of exclusion of immigrants and refugees can be seen as much a rebuke of home-grown Italian xenophobia as of DJT’s politics of division.

Looks like the left has issues with separation of Church and State. They're two different thing. Trump don't tell the Pope how to run his religion. The pope shouldn't tell Trump how to run his state.

Seems to me that I recently read about a horrible earthquake in some forgotten nation. Some horrible deaths in an armed conflict in some forgotten nation in Africa. Did that Cardinal cover those in his speech?

Now that is happenings of a recent nature. Doesn't begin to cover the thousands and thousands of deaths over the years that very Church is responsible for.

Must be that President Trump is super important to be placed before the world by that Cardinal over even just those two recent events I highlighted. And I could really go on and highlight a lot of other horrible stuff recently happening on Earth the Church might want to focus on.

Of course, I'll apologize, if that Cardinal did, indeed, cover all those other really important things before he brought up the doings of a single human, President Trump. How about that President Putin fella? Did he get a good tongue lashing from that Cardinal?

Any possibility I may be referring to "balance" here?

Limiting the inflow of migrants is not "xenophobia". In your opinion does everyone in the world have the right to come to Italy? Or Sweden?

Sounds like the pope and the Cardinal don't worry about immigration laws. That's their choice, most Americans don't agree with having millions of illegals in the country.
Sometimes doing the right thing isn’t doing the easy thing.

From inside the Vatican. A walled city with some of the most strict immigration laws on the planet.

The maga convention of “we can be awful because someone else is awful” rather than trying to be better people is much of the reason we are in the mess we are in.

Yes, the founding fathers were talking about the pope criticizing the president. That must be it

Nothing wrong with someone giving an opinion to trump
Not a separation issue
