Am I off here?

There was a time when responding to a post, you could separate the part of the post that you wanted to address by inserting “carriage return” and then responding. The last few times I have tried, my pepy is looking like part of the post I am replying to.

Anyone else getting this?

I'm still just placing cursor at the end of the needed part and hitting return to separate.

Try selecting the part of the post that you wish to respond to, then click Reply in the pop-up.

Word to the wise, don't shorten a post out-of-context.

Maybe that’s what I’m doing different. I have been hitting return at the start of the next part of the post and then adding my reply.

Always just place my cursor at end of sentence where I want to split and hit return.

That's what I do.

Rex, I have no idea WTF you did, but it won't even allow me to reply or quote! 😂

I suppose perhaps I wasn't totally clear. I hit reply(or quote) to put the whole post in my reply box. Then I place cursor where want to split, and return(enter), then continue, splitting, bolding, etc along the way.

That’s because the software thinks my answer is part of your post. Yours was only a one-line post, so I hit enter in the middle.

I have already had complaints about this. I have been here a while and thought I was up on posting/replying???

I hit reply to your whole post, placed cursor after "middle.", hit enter.. Split, and my cursor is already right there where I typed "I". Then the rest is as below with your name still there as a header. 🤷‍♂️
I have already

That's interesting. I've never done that. I've always hit <Reply>, hit enter at the end of the part I want to isolate and then type my response. If there's more in the post that I want to ignore, I just delete it. Your method eliminates the deleting part.

Weird. I've done the same thing on phone, tablet or laptop since I've been here.

Have you happened to hit that BB code thing or something? (Those brackets over on the right of tool bar. [ ] )

Think that may have caused that issue for me at one time IIRC.

@Rexedgar

I see what you are talking about. Your response is embedded within your quote of my post. That's not good because I cannot hit <Reply> to respond to you.

I have no trouble replying to any part of a post i choose.

What is the purpose of that icon, [ ]?
And to think of it, it seems a mode where you can edit an actual post. Believe that is how when I saw and questioned when someone actually changed the name of a member.

Why is the question? Is there a use other than making it look like someone said something they didn't, or change their name to something demeaning?

I don’t even know what carriage return is, but all I know is that when I go to this site, even though I checked the box that automatically gets me here, it says that it have to sign in and when I put in the password and my name, it says that it’s incorrect oh well… that should be my worst problem
