I want to post this here instead of in the climate, science, or off topic forums because there is more traffic here. Plus I don't want this thread to be so political in nature.
The azgreg household is going solar.....finally.
Me and SWMBO have been wanting to go solar for some time now but local politics in the area of net metering have slowed our decision some what.
After doing some research and talking to neighbors and friends we decided to go with Vivint Solar.

They basically had three options for us. We could buy outright, lease to own (20 years), or just buy power from them while they own the panels. The first two options we would get all the tax and rebate benefits while the third option we wouldn't. We basically came down to two requirements. We had to substantially reduce our electric bill and it had to be pretty worry free. With these two requirements we decided on option three. Currently we are on an equalizer plan with APS and out monthly bill is a tad over $200 a month. With Vivint our bill will be just a tad over $120 a month plus we won't have to worry about peak time crap.
Congrats Greg! Ive wanted to do that for a very long time. Now that we've bought our own house that time may be coming finally.
Thanks Rob. With the new solar rules coming to our area in July we needed to pull the trigger soon.

I hope you and the rest of the leaches and deadbeats enjoy the solar panels that taxpayers are buying for you.

Where I live there is a tax on solar voltaic that makes it unreasonable.
I have SRP, last year I didn't have a single bill that hit $200, I have a big house, but only heat/cool the back part where I live. I'd like to do solar, but I need a new roof first. I have one of those great old Hallcraft homes built in 1957, and I double paned all the windows.....the best way to get your bills down!
The lady that lives next door had some electric bills that hit $500 this summer. Crazy.
Are they the houses with 2 stories or high ceilings? I replaced my A/C a year ago, and everything was much cheaper this year!
My house is brick with an attic, walls insulated, etc. Nothing gets out or in.
... this is your hill to die on?
The taxpayer, by and large, doesn't give a **** about solar subsidies compared to every other way his taxes are wasted.
Do you eat vegetables? From which farmer? I hope your belly was full of those welfare greens ya LOOTING SCUM!

Nope, just a single story house like mine but a bit larger at 1700 sf. She does have a freezer in the garage and a hot tub though. She's got to have something wrong going on.
How much free taxpayer money did you get?
None.
I couldn't go to the real high seer ratings because the A/C is on a flat foam roof that just got repaired a few months before. We would have had to re-foam parts of it, and that is never ever good. So I got one that had a higher seer, but the same footprint.
Taxpayers care about all government waste
This one just happens to be one of the most offensive forms of it to many Americans who do not believe in taking handouts like beggars on the street
Got a link to that data?
Good for you
I am all for energy improvements that private citizens pay for with their own money
It really sucks that some places make it harder to use a source of energy that will be around as long as we are.
No. I would have gotten one with tax rebates if I could.
It is a good investment,
if more people are using less electricity, it is better for everyone.
I fully support tax rebates for the homeowner....for gigantic oil companies? Not so much.
