Why even have a chance for Congress to defy trump and block what he wants to do, what good is Congress? Why not abolish it and give their powers to trump? He's already largely seizing that power anyway. If we don't formally abolish it should Republicans demand their members obey trump?

Just asking as a sort of civics and cult test.

Con townhall meetings (while they last) and all of the con Congress's home offices will soon be bulldozed by the irate citizenry, right and left. Then what? Martial Law, that's what. If you don't see that coming, you better open your eyes.

Of course, this would require an amendment to the US Constitution, effectively doing away with Article 1. Is there enough support out there for such a drastic change? Not likely, but who knows? The American electorate has been stupid in the past.

On the other hand, as long as the GOP can continue to control Congress, they can surrender anything at any time.

Calm down.

This Congress is scared shitless of a 79 yr old ill man with cankles.
They haven't done anything to try and keep Trump's powers in check, instead they just roll over and do what Trump tells them to do.

There, I fixed it for you. Every GOP congressman is subject to being primaried. Therefore, it is critical that they do nothing to piss Trump off, lest he call on his minions to turn them out of office.

And thereby, they are complicit. I look forward to a democrat surge and taking back the power so they can prosecute the guilty for crimes against the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law in the Nuremberg Trials 2.0!

You're looking at the practicalities, I'm just asking for their sentiment about it. Their view of the importance of Congress versus trump etc.

It would be a mere formality at this point.
Yeah, pretty much. We're not quite at the point where control of congress can't flip, I don't think, but it's certainly looking dangerous.
