I suspect some of the attendees were Democrats but they too are constituents who have a right to be there. However, I also think many were Republicans. The BBB is extremely unpopular especially in rural areas. Alabama will likely get hit hard with hospital closures and residents are worried. I think that Republicans thought they could whitewash the Medicaid cuts as simply about work requirements but they were wrong. Dems have a good message on this one.

They're afraid of the inevitable primary challenge if the say one negative word about Trump or his administration's policies. It looks like the only answer is they get voted out of office by the very same constituents that have kept them their time after time.

I just don't know how to predict how those voters will act come election day. We've seen this movie before. Some GOP voters don't care how bad their rep is as long as they're voting against a democrat.

You just can't read the room, can you? This is a town hall of the constituents of a congressman in the deep south. They are outraged! The Republicans told us all that the Dems were out of touch in 2024, but then Republicans took a narrow win in the last election as some type of mandate. It wasn't.

Though I am not surprised at what is happening, because I have called out Trump on his authoritarian nature since 2015 and I have read much of Project 2025, but Trump's base has been deceived. The Republicans haven't kept their promises to the rank and file voter, and/or have gone way too far in the implementation of their "policies". They are now out of touch with America themselves. I would offer you up as exhibit A.

The outrage is consistent with almost all of the polling. Ask Joni Ernst why she is not running in Iowa, and why solid red districts are turning blue in special elections? Why do you think Trump ordered the redistricting in Texas? People do not like what is happening.
