Flake is a fool. The media will give him good press exactly as long as he opposes Trump. Should he get a nomination in 2020, the press will have the long knives out if they haven't already stabbed him in the back with them.

I really do not think the press sees anything in Flake beyond his opposition to Trump on some very narrow issues and is useful in showing at least a tiny bit of Republican dissension. Flake almost always votes with Trump and was supportive of the Obama care repeal and the tax cuts.

First poll for Arizona Republican Primary for Senate Seat in 2018:

McSally 31, Arpaio 29, Ward 25 all three far more popular in Arizona than Flake, his former constituency Arizona has abandoned him so
he wisely decided to not seek re-election. I guess you could call him a lame duck with nothing to lose so sadly
he isn't going away quietly.

Well, except that's not what Trump has done. Seeing as how the MSM's reputation is constantly setting record lows when it comes to trust among the American public, maybe the MSM should focus less on putting on spin and editorializing and focus more on doing their jobs to report just the facts? The notion that Flake is buying into narrative of how unfair Trump is to the press tells me that he's desperate because of his record low approval ratings. Flake is foolishly trying to appeal to liberals and the MSM who don't even live in Arizona in order to deflect from this sad news...
