The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected on Thursday an effort by President Donald Trump's administration to halt next steps in an ongoing legal saga involving the erroneous deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador.​

In the 7-page ruling, Judge Harvie Wilkinson, a Republican appointed by former President Ronald Reagan, warned that the administration's actions appear lawless. The ruling was unanimous from a three-judge panel.​
​
"The Executive will lose much from a public perception of its lawlessness and all of its attendant contagions," Wilkinson wrote. "The Executive may succeed for a time in weakening the courts, but over time history will script the tragic gap between what was and all that might have been, and law in time will sign its epitaph."​
​
The government's failure to rectify its error, the court said, risked reducing "the rule of law to lawlessness and [tarnishing] the very values for which Americans of diverse views and persuasions have always stood."​
​
Judge Wilkinson is a conservative Reagan-appointed judge, much admired in the conservative legal world.

The case is obvious, "Conservative" hasn't until very recently, and only for the very dumb, meant fascist, authoritarian, stupid and flying in the face of the Constitutional norms hundreds of years old.

It certainly doesn't mean that for people who actively studied law for a living.

At the time the Constitution was ratified colonists had MILITARY HARDWARE AT HOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a matter of fact Supreme Court Joseph Story warned AMericans AGAINST standing armies because they had the right to bear MILITARY STYLE WEAPONS INCLUDING ARTILLERY

The Republicans are divided

1- The Warmonger-Neocrazy Wing is controlled by the War Profiteers , and Led Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham , et all/ Those folks can only get sexually aroused at the sight of spilt blood

2- The Magadonians , we are trying to restore and enforce the Constitution while being frustrated by #1 and the Socialist Demon Rats

Damn right. I should be able to own anti-aircraft missiles if I want. Anything up to and including nukes should be legal for civilian ownership.

If millions of people die, that’s the fault of irresponsible criminal nuke owners.

Unfortunately the Constitution is not self-executing
