Video of interview with Val Demings and transcript in link.

Members of the U.S. House of Representatives, led by a majority of Democrats, will begin impeachment proceedings on Wednesday, as more Republicans indicated they may vote to remove President Trump from office. Florida Democratic Rep. Val Demings is a member of the Judiciary and Homeland Security committees. She joins Judy Woodruff to discuss the House plan to impeach the president a second time.

Yes yes yes ......

Just so we all remember there is more than one way to get to Rome. We know conservatives that of which are not necessarily republican but mostly fascist will always try to stifle
disciplinary action which make them all accessories before and after the facts.

Can't come soon enough for me, and all decent Americans.

Yet it's "divisive", etc....to all the traitors and fascists (i.e. loyal Trump acolytes).

But some Americans were not at all surprised to see the seditionists and traitors attack the Capital building last week. Neither were we surprised to see white thugs treated with kid gloves, in direct contrast to the way black protesters are treated for peacefully demonstrating. That's the story of America, from it's inception. That's who we have always been....and it's who we still are, right now.

The history of America is crystal clear. It shows us that every time....EVERY SINGLE TIME....white conservatives lose power (or believe they are in danger of losing power), these things happen. Terrorism. Violence. Rioting. etc. etc. This is who they are...who they REALLY are.

Well said! Can't come soon enough for me either, enough with this insanity and assault on America by the president himself, shameful.

I'm tired of hearing how impeachment is 'divisive'. Does anyone think overturning an election or government, isn't? Give me a break. After 6 NOV, I can't see any reason to coddle these guys, anymore.

I agree, we had four years of division and hate, we just had a major attack on our Capitol and democracy with people dead, and these sniveling douchbags want to talk about divisiveness and criticize Biden because he ran on unity? **** these lying traitors, they all need to pay!

Christians will be happy.

None at all.

"Unity" should not (and cannot) begin without ACKNOWLEDGEMENT from those who fed the Trump regime for the last 4-5 years.... and a date with JUSTICE (for EVERYONE who was involved in, or who encouraged the worst/greatest acts of sedition and insurrection in the history of this country.

"Divisiveness" is the lame lamentation of EVERY Goper....EVERY time the Gopers lose power. And our history shows us that liberals have ALWAYS acquiesced to the pleas, warnings and demands for "moderation" and "unity" from conservatives (when the cons are in the minority). That's how Reconstruction was ended....and how/why a century of Jim Crow Apartheid was able to happen in the direct aftermath of a bloody Civil War (fought almost entirely to rid the country of slavery and institutional/systemic racism). It still boggles the mind that the LOSERS of the Civil War were ultimately able to return to the union without ANY penalty or punishment AND RE-INSTALL a system of quasi-slavery/subjugation....AFTER losing the war they started (and lost) to protect that very institution.

Well-intentioned (by spineless) liberals have always done it: They Compromise....They "moderate" themselves and their agenda for the sake of "unity" has never existed, because the other side (i.e. conservatives) has never believed in it.

But "division" never worries the righties. Unity has never been the goal of the cons. Never. Never in our history, on any major issue, have conservatives compromised. When they have power, they say "F your Feelings".

But now....just like clockwork (i.e. whenever they lose power).....EVERY Goper in congress (and in the media) is calling for "unity" and avoiding "divisiveness". Not one of these f-ers every mumbled those words one time over the previous 4 years, as Trump was destroying American democracy, American values and America's reputation in the world. Not one single Goper.

If Democrats/liberals allow themselves to be conned again...they do not deserve our votes in the future.

The problem with Democrats/liberals is....they genuinely want to do the right thing.

Republicans don't carry that burden. They just want to win. At any cost.

Great post, buddy. And a great visual illustration.

One of the biggest problems I've had with Trumpers, is not simply the difference in policy, but their ass-hole-ish nature. That's the best way I can describe it.

I really hate the "make them pay" mantra, and that's not a personal response to your post - of course. I really have no interest in that, but I do believe it's time to take the gloves off and use force against force. If they are violent, neutralize the violence, and toss them behind bars. The time to talk is over, I'm afraid.

Hmmmm

Bet Donnie wishes he did not go visit his rusty southern wall (such as it is) for one last orgasm today. There was a palace revolt while he was away setting up a completely predictable House Impeachment followed by a completely unpredictable rest of the week.

Just heard Val Demmings speak and she said there are at least 5 Republicans who will join the Dems in their Impeachment vite and is hopeful that there will be as many as 20. I find it very interesting that McConnell has been relatively silent on this. There is reporting that he is furious with Trump for what he did last week as well as it relates to Georgia. The reporting is that if McConnell votes to convict that 16 Republican Senators will easily follow his lead.

Trump doesn't give a damn about the Republican Party and is quite happy to destroy it. I think the continuing damage he can do is dawning on many Republicans. The loyal base of Trumplodytes will stand with him but I do think the days of the Republican Party being the Party of Trump are over.
