If you’re that interested in not leaving people behind then why are you a tightwad? Who should pick up the slack?Eh i save money by not having someone do a fairly simple task for me. We should definitely not leave those people behind though.
I'm comparing customer service of yesteryear to today.
I called my local waste pickup company because my pickup was missed yesterday to get them to come out today and get it. After twenty minutes on hold, I hung up. This is what is put over on us today as customer service. It all looks so good on tv, try contacting a human.
same with meTitle: yes, I remember it. And I remember that it pissed me off. Just like doormen and bellhops in fancier hotels.
I'm just really not the kind of person who wants to be served for the sake of being served.

Not to be overlooked is calling an automated service which does not offer a clear option to address the reason for your call. And there is no option to be passed to an operator who might direct your call to the appropriate department. The common thread here is the lack of interpersonal customer service. We are further disconnecting from flesh and blood people, who job it is to stop , listen to what we want, and serve. Now we push buttons to get served. Now we wait in physical or technological 'lines', and we push buttons, and wait some more and maybe get to that human interaction if the button pushing/ waiting cycles can't resolve the problem. .
I was thinking about this the other day. One of the last places I could get full service was on Kauai. There was a Chevron in Waimea I would frequent on the way home from work.
A beautiful Portuguese woman did a great job on the windshield reaching way across to reach the center.![]()
There's a full service a few blocks from me. I haven't seen one for years. I was talking to the owner and he explained that with full service he can turn over cars faster so the extra employee pays for himself.I was thinking about this the other day.
