Redraw the States

Someone created this interactive that lets you add counties to different states and see how that affects the election. Can create all sort of what if scenarios like if West Virginia never split or Michigan never gave up it's claim on the Toledo strip in exchange for the Upper Peninsula when it was granted statehood.

I could honestly play with this forever and I thought I'd share.

Two counties. Los Angeles County moves to Collier County, FL and Westchester County, NY moves to Waukeshaw County, WI. The tally becomes 271 Clinton and 268 Trump.

You could shift the outcome by changing 3 counties adjacent to the states you move them to if anyone wants a (pretty easy) challenge.

What a dumb concept. Move Multnomah, Lane and Washington counties (Oregon) to California and Oregon becomes a red state.

But is it enough to put Hillary over 270? That's the challenge.

Luther, none of those people want to move to Wisconsin - it's Winter there now and it's just too D*** cold! :lamo

Some people are weenies. I'm heading north myself next week to frolic in the frozen tundra.

Uh huh... But look at your starting point that you get to return to! Those poor folks are just going to be stuck - until they beat the tar out of everyone responsible for the move, and get themselves moved back home!

Are you going hunting next week?

Not hunting but it will involve lots of shooting. I'm going to a week long pistol training class.

Back on the the thread topic, this map thing really gives a good indication of why a national popular vote for president is problematic. Just two counties in two states could create a 38 EV swing. It also shows the VAST political divide between urban areas and rural areas.
