I just finished reading this through for the second time.. amazing book! I highly recommend it for someone who does not mind a lengthy, but awesome read.
I won't go into a full on book review per se, just a quick outline. Shantaram is a semi-autobiographical about the authors experiences and life as an Australian prison escapee living in India, it immerses you in the culture, and Gregory David Roberts use of language, and the story is awesome! Plenty of cultural and moralistic battles and struggles throughout and a host of fascinating characters.
One of the best books I have encountered in a long long time, if not ever!
