The unintended consequence to the amnesty involved the slamming shut of the border. Most of the seasonal workers had gone home in the off season. No way of knowing if they could make it back made them decide to stay all year.

And it’s good to remember that two prominent Republican tried to remove the employer sanctions of the amnesty as well.

The right has always talked out the side of their necks on immigration. Undocumented immigrants have always been too useful as scapegoats providing cover for capitalists for them to actually come up with solutions.

You know how you can easily tell they’ve been playing the right on all of this?
