During 2017, Jim Justice stood side by side DJT praising him. After DJT's summoned assault on our Capitol, Jim Justice called it "despicable"!! Now, as tricky as Joe Manchin can get, time to scratch our heads about the possibility that Jim Justice may run against Joe Manchin.

West Virginia Governor Jim Justice has said he would "seriously consider running for Senate," in a potential blow to Joe Manchin, the state's sole Democratic Senator.

Justice added that he will "run through the finish line with being your governor," before saying he wanted to help West Virginia "in any way, whether it be the Senate or the House or the next governor-to-be, whatever it may be."

The governor has extensive business interests, including a coal-mining company he inherited from his father. In 2020, Forbes estimated Justice had a personal fortune of $1.2 billion. Although this sum has gone down during the pandemic, it would give him the financial muscle for a Senate run, should he choose to make one.

I think a younger D candidate could mitigate some of Justice's points.

The governor is a billionaire, how's his state doing overall?

West Virginia is the fifth-poorest U.S. state, with a median household income of $51,615 and a poverty rate of 14.6%. West Virginians have the lowest level of higher education attainment in the nation, with only 23.1% of its residents holding a Bachelor's degree or higher.

Maybe the folks of west virginia should pay more attention to those they elect? This also goes for several other red states.

What state is the poorest in the US?

Poverty rates were highest in the states of Mississippi (19.58%), Louisiana (18.65%), New Mexico (18.55%), West Virginia (17.10%), Kentucky (16.61%), and Arkansas (16.08%), and they were lowest in the states of New Hampshire (7.42%), Maryland (9.02%), Utah (9.13%), Hawaii (9.26%), and Minnesota (9.33%).

I dunno about polls but presently Manchin is beating all three Republicans who have announced or are expected to announce.

Manchin leads Justice by 4% which is strong for the incumbent Democrat in otherwise hopeless WVA. Manchin leads the other two clowns by more than 20% each so let's hope anyway one of 'em gets nominated.

As we know Sinema in AZ bailed from the Democratic Party when she started polling for the primary in the teens of support (14%). Hightailed it for the hills Sinema did. In a three way Senate race Lake got 36%, US Rep. Gallego 32% and Sinema gets another 14% prize. Sinema got 3% of the Hispanic vote in the polling.

Twenty percent of AZ voters said they don't want Biden or Trump. Twenty-three percent of Biden voters are undecided. Trump leads DeFascist for the R nomination by 9% so it looks like Biden will be safe in AZ again no matter. Maybe the new code is, as Arizona goes so goes the nation. :)

Being that Sen Manchin started throwing punches at his own party after Pres Biden took office, but seemed to calm down some this past year, I wonder how Joe Machine respond to the new goofy House of Representatives under T-Repub control. The same goes for Governor Justice. He didn't like the insurrection but what will be his attitude about this new Congress the closer the Senate election gets? Do West Virginians really care about what anybody thinks about this new Congress?? Will Governor Justice's bigger money outpower Joe Manchin in a senate race??? I think watching future polls might indicate any movement of concern. It's one to watch for sure.

Yeah, that's good stuff to focus on thx.

I'd expect Trump and Maga in WVA will try the same failed tact as Republicans fell down trying in GA, ie, they need a R majority in the Senate so vote R no matter. Justice is a superior candidate in WVA to Hershel Walker who was a spectacularly inferior candidate in GA, as Walker would be just about anywhere. Then again, GA R's are far superior to R's in WVA where Trump won by something like 30 points. Among other factors positive for Justice is that he's governor whereas Walker was a fake cop, deadbeat dad and stupid joke teller.

Manchin will play his seniority as a committee chairman and free spirit who can bring home the bacon for WVA. I haven't heard Justice speak but Manchin definitely knows how to play the humble down home boy with his stick and a string goin' down to the fishin' hole.

In his reelection last time Manchin was asked what he'd do if he lost and he didn't hesitate to say with a smile he'd just go back to WVA. If Justice loses he doesn't have to go anywhere which makes the voters choice for Manchin simpler given voters know Joe from back when he was governor. Ol' Joe knows the many state issues to hit a governor on to make him look bad wanting to go to Washington. A major difference between GA and WVA though is that the Mountain State is a very white state so CRT and other issues of race don't hit home with the R's there. Whites in the state don't have to bring themselves to vote for a Democrat guy who might remind 'em of BLM cause Ol' Joe doesn't do that.

The best news so far for Manchin is that as the incumbent he starts out ahead in the first early polling. He doesn't have to try to catch up from being in a hole right off. It's Justice who has to make the case, not Manchin.

Pretty good set of feelers sensing what you're sensing if a match-up takes place between J Justice and J Manchin. Hard to argue that Manchin sits on an incumbent advantage early on but since I think that Justice will slightly tickle more Big Corp fancies than what Manchin may be able to. This approval rating poll below from last July has Gov Justice 5th in the nation. Sounds like Justice must be doing something exceptionally right in which actually surprised me.

Even under the most favorable circumstances, it would take a minor miracle for Joe Manchin to get reelected in West Virginia (R +22). If Jim Justice runs against him, it seems hopeless.

Too bad. Joe Manchin is the MVP of the Democratic caucus, and Dems should thank our lucky stars that we have him...for however much longer we have him. Dems should view winning a Senate seat in West Virginia as an unexpected bonus, instead of constantly bitching that Joe Manchin isn't Bernie Sanders.

Im pretty convinced that class consciousness in America is well a pipe dream. Why stand for your own interests when you can whine about CRT?

Yeah, because WVA only became a poor state after Justice got elected.
