Going to a Club World Cup game in the US this year? Make sure you have your papers, because ICE and CBP will be present.

If are not sure if you might expect to be asked for your papers, use this handy guide:

The world cup is going to have to be moved from LA. The cities leadership is a joke and its basically now a third world country.

Yeah, this is more immanent than next year. Next year is the World Cup between national teams. This is the Club World Cup, between club teams, and it's next Saturday.

And lower ticket sales may very well be the result of Trump's immigration policies. People don't want to be profiled and targeted by overzealous ICE and CBP agents.

Yeah, I was confused at first (I don't watch soccer, what we 'Muricans call it). I put "this year" then looked up "World Cup" and it was next year, so I changed it...oops!

I was in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, during the last World Cup and the atmosphere in some countries, Latin countries especially, is amazing.
Europeans get right into it too but they have the annual UEFA Champions League to blow up about so it's not a once-in-4-years national orgasm like Latin American countries.

All games will be sold out. Always are.

An excellent opportunity for TACO and ICE to screw up royally.

It certainly is intimidation.

It is intimidating to want to go do something knowing you are here illegally, and might get caught there and deported.

All others should feel no such intimidation.

In action, this also might be a place that ICE gets more bad publicity by doing dumb things.

Don't think of it as intimidation. Think of it as a public service.

The illegal aliens have been alerted that going to the event could have undesirable consequences.

I would encourage all darker skinned people to avoid this event. The risk is too high that some 20-something CBP agent with 75 minutes of training under his belt will decide that your lawful identification and proof of legal residency and/or citizenship is suspicious because he was told he'd be fired if he didn't hit a quota for detentions, and since his job is to meet the quota for detentions and it falls on somebody else to do the investigation, you may be shuffled off to spend 1-2 weeks waiting for a middle level functionary to confirm your identification and release you with no apology. It's not worth it.

Yep. I thought about going to the final, but I'm not paying $100s of dollars to potentially get hassled. It's bad enough I have to walk around with a passport card.

Say that louder for the other clowns that seem to think the only ones being hassled are “illegals”

They tend to be the same types that also deny something like white privilege exists.
