I was reading an article about power to liquid,
Power-to-gas for long-term energy storage
I have set up sputtering deposition where an element is coated on the experiment in an ionized field of Argon.
I wounder if sputtering could happen with a carbon anode, in an ionized hydrogen environment?
Not so much about what gets coated, but the resulting waste gas.
If the hydrogen is ionized, and the carbon is vaporized, it seems like some hydrocarbon chains might form.
