It looks about 3 years is the target for the charged and convicted Insurrectionists. Chansley got less than the recommendation of 51 months, which also seems to be the trend.
41 months is a healthy sentence. He also got 4 years probation following jail. He'll be sorry for next 7 years for what he did. That was for non-violent crimes.
He also struck a plea deal which usually reduces the sentence.

We'll see what happens when some of the conspiracy charges get going the beginning of next year.

I'm not sure if Chansley committed any violence, but his sentence is the same as Scott Fairlamb, who was captured on video punching police.

I'm a little surprised at the sentence, seems a little harsh for a guy who didn't cause any physical harm, but merely acted like a damn idiot with his paint and stupid outfit. I'm not feeling any sympathy for any of them, it just looks like some of the others are getting 30-60 days if they didn't perpetrate any violence.

To me seems way to light. Every person at that riot should be charged with treason and terrorism and locked up indefinitely just like other terrorists. Those who stayed home and cheered them on and continue to should receive the same. Throw them all in a dark prison under the Patriot Act. I hate the idea that this terrorist POS will be back in society in a few years.

I think the judge was harsh because he was one of the "ringleaders" inside the Capitol, encouraging the rioters.

*Flame suit enabled*

This is where the line is drawn.

1) For some its not enough because they have the false accusation of Insurrection, He was not charged with such, he was charged with "Unlawfully obstructing an official proceeding" An absolute idiot, moron and deserves his sentence for the crime he has committed. BUT NO WHERE NEAR Insurrection and those that keep falsely accusing and implying as such is just dishonest.

2) For some it is overboard as correct this idiot didnt actually hurt anyone or cause relevant property damage to result in a charge (I could be wrong as they may have gone after the higher offense I need to read more) But anyways YES, those that actually attacked and hurt people or caused property damage resulting appropriate charges SHOULD get the book thrown at them.

Sadly the "FACTS" of the matter do not correlate with the emotion on both sides. One side thinking their acts are of patriotism, the other thinking its an insurrection..... Both are WRONG...

my useless $0.02............... did I put enough dots.........

Well their violent attempt to subvert American Democracy and undermine the Constitution smacks of sedition. These bastards are lucky with the kids glove treatment they've been given.
If you want a sedition-level sentence then he needs to be charged with and found guilty of sedition. The only thing he is guilty of is disrupting an official proceeding. He gets three and a half years for that.

And people wonder why we have the highest rate of incarceration in the world.

War on Drugs is one of the reasons we have high incarceration rates, our Private Prison problem helps to feed that. Those 3 Strike laws, etc. It's not because we properly charge and punish Seditionists for sedition.

Yes, the Seditionists have enjoyed the kids gloves here. So your deflection of incarceration rate is moot.
There are no seditionists. We are a nation of laws, not torches and pitchforks.

There are Seditionists, they formed an armed, violent mob which assaulted police officers and stormed Congress to undermine American Democracy and subvert the US Constitution because their Dear Leader lost.

Yet McCarthy, Cruz, Hawley, Tuberville, et.al wont even serve a single day.

Can I ask a question,

If due process has been fulfilled. And this person has been charged accepted guilt and will serve their time, Why would you keep being dishonest about Sedition, Insurrection etc.

Not one person has been charged with it yet. NOR has anyone been guilty.

Do you have an agenda to falsely accuse people of crimes that they are not charged with or found guilty of?

The law is "Innocent until proven guilty" He accepted guilt for "unlawfully obstructing a government proceeding" Thats it. He is getting an appropriate sentence for such based on sentencing guidelines. Why accuse someone of MORE when they are NOT charged.

OUR Justices system also allows rehabilitation. He has expressed his remorse (True or False) but does he not have a right to do so and try to be rehabilitated? What is your point to keep saying sedition when its FALSE?
