russia's early genocidal Christmas list:

1. Ukraine abandons plans to join NATO (never gonna happen)

2. Ukraine adopts a neutral status (putin is kidding, right?)

3. Lifting of western sanctions (under Trump, who knows?)

4. Release of frozen western assets (under Trump, who knows?)

Under putin's russia, negotiations, ceasefires, and nuclear threats serve only one purpose: to give russia breathing room to rearm.

In my opinion, anyone who believes that putin will ever negotiate in good faith with Ukraine or the west is not a serious person.

Reasonable.

I don’t have any doubt that Russia will try to undo the West’s Euromaiden conspiracy and the West will try to maintain its usurpation.
3. Lifting of western sanctions (under Trump, who knows?)
Reasonable.
4. Release of frozen western assets (under Trump, who knows?)
Reasonable.

Trump will side with Putin on this "agreement " if he thinks, fool that he is, that it will end the war. He wants the Peace Prize soooooo bad.

My thought is the longer we negotiate the more likely the Russian people will tire of this conflict. Putin will not live forever. Hopefully we will see better leadership in Russia in the future. The only real solution is to keep Putin in check. The man is very dangerous and I believe he will start a world war if backed into a corner with no other way out. He is aging and hopefully tiring as well of this war. Of course while we think we have the facts it is more likely we are only hearing a bias view of the situation. It is sad we can not trust our media or government information.

This is horrible analysis.

Are there conditions on land returned to Ukraine? And what about returning the children they kidnapped?

Putin is not negotiating he is demanding capitulation of Ukraine. If a million dead and wounded don't make the Russian people "tired" of this war what makes you think they ever will? Just how long can we tolerate Putin's murder of innocent civilians every night? The longer we let that go on the more normal it will seem.

Reasonable.

Reasonable.

Well said, Sir!

Also, Ukraine must pay steep reparations for starting this infernal war.

MAGA.

No. Starting a nuclear war is a horrible solution to this conflict. The sad reality is as long as Putin is stuck in this situation he most likely will not start things elsewhere. If he wins he will move on to the next agenda. The question is whether he is willing to take it to the next level. I think he will. I think he is every bit as dangerous as all the terrorist running around with bombs strapped to themselves. All it takes is for one suicidal leader with nukes to decide there is no other choice. Best to keep negotiations open and options on the table. It is the only hope for a peaceful solution.

Short answer: no and no.

What nuclear war? The one Putin and his gangster barons are terrified of immediately losing should it ever kick off?

Are all Putin-friendly conservatives given so easily to vapors? Is it a side effect of the adoration for strong men, generally, or specific to Putin?

That's not the list. There's more.

Demilitarizing Ukraine.
Bandarists out of Ukraine govt
Ukraine new election
Russia keeps the Donbas and Crimea.

Been consistent with these demands for several years now.

The fact that Putin is thinking about making peace is promising.
Let's hope he's not bluffing and is coming to his senses. Maybe Trump's promise of building on existing sanctions, and leveling secondary sanctions on a few countries who buy Russian oil, gas, uranium that would be even more crippling was the final straw. We'll see.

They make me think of Gone with the Wind an awful lot, or those Victorian novels where a character wearing a bonnet might swoon.

The Reuters list is incomplete because russia is delaying, and russia is delaying in my opinion because delays benefit russia.

russia has not been consistent either with its demands or its rationale for invading Ukraine.

Ultimately, the point is moot.

Whatever russia's demands are at any given moment, Ukraine will never agree to them.

There it is.

And the blue is 100% bullshit as well. Give them Donbas and demilitarize and they walk in and take the rest.

Still nothing about the kids.

Nothing Putin suggests is reasonable - NOTHING! - because nothing Putin says can be believed. He doesn't honor his treaties, he hasn't honored his territorial claims, ... he doesn't even honor his own cease fires! Anyone who thinks bowing to Putin's conditions will end Russian military aggression against Ukraine is an ineducable fool. And Zelenskyy is not a fool.

Would you accept these conditions for the US after three years invasion by a foreign power?
Given the current alternatives? Depends on where I was and my life in Ukraine. Might not have accepted the Zelensky election to begin with.

Ukraine faces a far worse future the more this continues.

He knows the West won't go for these conditions, so he can jump around, point and say "They don't wanna negotiate" while continuing to commit wholesale murder of Ukrainians.

And when Zelensky says "No chance" to this crock of Russian-cooked up shit, Trump will once again launch into an ALL-CAPS social media tantrum aimed at Zelensky, saying "HE IS PART OF THE PROBLEM" or "HE IS THE ONE WHO DOESN'T WANT TO END THE WAR!!!!!!!!".

Damn it. If only Biden hadn't been such an indecisive puss & had given Ukraine the heavier stuff much earlier...

...plus, taken control of Ukrainian skies. I will not forgive Biden for that. The **** were Russian gangsters gonna do about it, die in even larger numbers?

No it's not reasonable. NATO is a security guarantee. Putzin doesn't want that because then he wouldn't be able to launch another land grab attempt. Russia would actually have to obey a peace treaty for the first time in modern history.

4. Release of frozen western assets (under Trump, who knows?)

Reasonable.

Russia caused a horriffc amount of damage in Ukraine. Russia should have to pay for it. That will come out of the frozen assets.

You broke it? You pay for it.
