Prominent pastor charged with fraud plans to turn himself in: report

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last week charged Caldwell and Gregory Allen Smith of Shreveport, La., with multiple counts of fraud over a scheme affecting at least 27 mostly elderly investors from 2013 to 2014.

The two face up to 30 years in prison if convicted, ABC News reported.

Another "man of god" using his position of power to defraud people

If your pastor is not accountable to at least three other pastors (outside of his own church) - then it is time to find another pastor.

A lot of these "megachurch" guys are in it for fame, money, and adoration - not to help other people. Their churches become "cults of personality" (or, simply, "cults") and they lose all perspective on right and wrong.

If you cannot walk up to your pastor after service and say: "I need to talk to you right now." ...without being referred to a subordinate minister or "care group leader," you should heed the warning sign and find someone who actually cares about you.

I speak from painful experience.
