Destroying private businesses is one thing the left is good at. Here's another one:

Businesses destroyed, the customers suffer, and the workers lose their jobs. Vote progressive if you want more of this.

Businesses go under everywhere.

I live in a red state. Are you ready to blame Buckeye business closings on Republican officials and policies?

"One of the biggest injuries to Denver Sweet’s bottom line has been the rising cost of labor, owners said, “particularly from living wage laws in both Colorado and Denver."

Dang. It really sucks when you have to pay employees.

I'll bet we should go with a Right-To-Work Conservative Utopia?

Perhaps......Alabama?

Ah yes the poor restauranteurs.

Sounds like a skill issue, seems restaurants in other countries can coexist with strong min wages and progressive regulations while somehow in the "greatest country in the world" business owners act like whiny victims.

Maybe once they go bankrupt they can work for the same piss poor wages they pay their staff and see how well they survive.

Seems like the place was teeming with restaurants to begin with, and still is.

Also one of the bars that closed was not just specialized for the alphabet people, but to a specific type and subtype (bears). When you make yourself so exclusive (perhaps not de jure, but de facto), and then position yourself in a saturated area in a saturated and unnecessary industry, you're asking for problems.

How about the fact that Denver Sweet also cited lower traffic since the Pandemic? How did the Left create that issue?

Also, Bears are probably meeting on GROWLR these days if you're interested. Bars are so 1990's.

I know this may come as a shock to you, but when a business goes out of business because of excessive minimum wage laws, they don't pay anyone anything.

Hmmm....the same could be said for the places that "go out of business because of excessive minimum wage laws" here in the red, red state of Ohio.

Darn those Republican state officials and legislators!

So are these the only two establishments in Denver subject to regulations?

Shouldn't they ALL have gone under?

And strangely the economy does better under Democratic Presidents. Weird.....

Good catch!

Thanks.

And something the OP missed from - and I'm trying not to laugh here - the very first paragraph of the article:

"Capitol Hill bar Denver Sweet will close this month after six years in business, following challenges that include increased labor costs, lower foot traffic and changing customer habits, owners said Tuesday."

Only one of three factors and the other two are what usually put bars out of business.

Time and again states and countries with a higher minimum wage have shown that businesses that can keep customers can handle the increase. In Australia McDonalds workers get AUD $27-30 per hour. In Canada over $20. Guess what, they're still in business.

They can not let a mindless anti left rant go, no matter how embarrassing it will end up being for them

So market saturation, inadequate capitalization, unappealing menus, excessive prices, poor management, and constant employee turnover did not play a role? It was just an increase in minimum wage?

How would Gordon Ramsay fix this? "You idiot! Lower your employee's wages! DONKEY!"

Oh goody! A retort. Do tell. What are the minimum wages in Ohio, compared to those in Denver.

I have no idea. If you want to do the research to answer you question, and bring the information here, I'll be interested to see the results.

In the meantime, blaming Democrats for a small business failure is as silly as blaming Republicans for a small business failure.

I hope you get the drift.....

The drift is, you brought it up even though you have no clue what you're talking about, and even though I didn't say anything about Democrats or Republicans.

I don't do your research work.

Now, back to the fact that minimum wage rates can be only ONE of MANY factors responsible for small business failures, which are all too commonplace: accept it. Or not.

Either way, your partisanship is showing.
