This poll and thread was started because a certain member of this forum has claimed to have what I believe are extraordinary experiences with prayer and which he/she believes are typical. So I thought I'd poll the theists of DP to see if their experiences with prayer are similar.

This poll is directed at theists only. I've included an option for non-theists just so they don't feel entirely left out.

Poll Question:
1) When I pray I sometimes or always literally hear god talk back to me (either audibly or in my head).
2) I have witnessed someone healed on-the-spot because of prayer (E.G., a wound closes and heals, a broken leg or injury fixed, eye sight restored, etc)
3) When I pray I sometimes/always feel a "divine presence".
4) I have witnessed some of my prayers eventually come true and I am fairly certain they would NOT have come true if I hadn't prayed*. (E.G., I overcame substance abuse, I got a job I really wanted, a family member or friend overcame an illness or difficult time)
5) I have experienced something else because of prayer (please explain).
6) I have experienced none of the above.

*Note: god was the cause of the prayer coming true and not some other cause such as the placebo effect, chance, or natural causes.

When I was younger I prayed a few times when I was upset about something and I felt calm and contented afterwards.
