I recall my own scepticism of this charge when many people here also peddled it without the least bit of doubt about the veracity of the claim nor the integrity of the sources she was relying on for the information. Seeing the same claim used in the war to overthrow Gadhafi and its subsequent undermining through lack of credible evidence should have been the first stop for the critical thinker but, alas, it was peddled throughout the western MSM, you know the media that people here think is the only pillar of truth worth referencing. lol

I wonder whether they will now have the integrity to respond to this damning take down of the spreaders of western/NATO propaganda. I ain't gonna hold my breath waiting that's for sure.

In general it is best to ignore propaganda. The only thing that matters is that Russia has invaded a sovereign state, and they will be punched in the face until they withdraw to their former border. Then, work will begin to normalize relations.

Her opinion was based on talking to people who had been raped by Russian solders whilst she was on the ground in Ukraine.

I agree that the title is astray but would just add that this is to be found in the media generally. The recent Ukrainian missiles that hit Poland was cast in one newspaper here as " Russia bombs NATO ". It's regrettable but it happens and that's why I created my own title to the thread which I think is a more accurate assessment of the content of the article.

Recall she did assert that she thought it was an official Russian " military strategy" being played out by the Russian army to mass rape women but has since provided nothing to support it.

In the interview she also......

States that they, the alleged mass rapists, were " going door to door in different villages" and then back tracks to they were specifically "focused on Mariupol"

She also is vague/confusing as to who the statements were given to. She first of all states they were given to her and then she states they were given to her underlings and then they passed them on to her.

To be honest, I think she comes across as lacking credibility due to the above and other aspects of this story that cast a big shadow over the claims of mass rape as a military strategy which has been used to demonize the Russian side in this conflict. Will rapes have occurred ?, absolutely, will they have been perpetrators from both sides involved in them? absolutely, we appear only concerned about the horrors of war rape when they are applied to the official enemy. Standard wartime thinking but , nonetheless, instructive of how they are used for propaganda purposes.

The article you link also states that the same allegations were made against Gadhafi's troops by the West and proven to be untrue. So far there is scant evidence to support the idea that the Russian military are actually using the mass rape of women as a " military strategy" to " dehumanize them". There is much evidence that Ukrainian forces have been referring to captured Russian soldiers and ethnic Russian citizens of Ukraine as " Orcs"? Where are the castigations for their mistreatments, be they rapes or murders or torturing's?
