He goes on to say that they had to use "tortured language" to avoid allowing CBO to score the mandate as a tax (even though they would go on to argue in court that the mandate was a tax) and all of this was because the voting public is too "stupid" to support what's good for them and the end justified the means.

What a complete idiot.

"Stupidity of the American voter or whatever?"

WTF?

Yeah, this needs to be run on constant loop until 2016. The American people need to see what the Democrats in power actually think of them.

Ends justify the means, Americans are idiots who need to be lied to to get stuff done, and on and on.

He doesn't say this so casually in a group setting like this if he doesn't hear in regularly in private from his fellow Democrats.

I'm not so sure that HE is the idiot... but he certainly thinks the rest of us are.

The majority of people KNEW that law was a disaster, knew the President was lying through his teeth before it was passed.

" lack of transparency " ? You mean LIES.

This guy was a key architect. The only voter stupidity was the Democrat voter stupidity and the stupidity of the people that STILL support it

Ya, and were you buying into what they lied about?

Don't answer, just consider the implications.

Don't answer?

Anything that requires lies, subterfuge, extraordinary action, midnight negotiations, and is passed unilaterally against the majority opinion of the citizens, should be considered exactly how ACA has been considered.

A vile bit of legislation.

Sorry, I presumed you to be a Obamacare supporter... had that been the case the answer of yes would mean you were among the stupid people being targeted, and a no would likely be a lie.

I agree with the rest... it only passed because of the ignorance of Americans and their willingness to trust known and proven liars.

That's why I answered. Didn't want to leave the wrong impression. The video certainly proved the point, and properly identified the intellect of the sheep who baa to the master.

I don't think there are anymore ObamaCare supporters.

The Left had to adjust their position on it by saying it should have been single payer.

But as far as I'm concerned their still on the hook for this POS.

They can run, but they can't hide.

Perhaps the Republicans should be happy to have the ACA as a Campaign issue and thank this guy. Take a look at the states that I have ACA for and against percentages and what happened last Tuesday:

National Average 38.1% for 51.6% against (10 Nov 2014)
Arkansas 27% for 63% against Republican Pick up
California 47% for 45% against Democratic hold
Colorado 37% for 59% against Republican pick up
Florida 40% for 49% against no senate race, but republican Scott won the governorship
Iowa 35% for 52% against Republican pick up
Louisiana 31% for 63% against Soon to be a Republican pick up
Michigan 41% for 48% against Split, Republican governor won, Democratic senate hold
Minnesota 41% for 45% against Democratic Hold
Montana 31% for 58% against Republican pick up
New Hampshire 38% for 54 against exception to rule, Democratic Hold, barely
North Carolina 38% for 51% against Republican pick up
Ohio 37% for 54% against Republican Governor won big time
Virginia 40% for 53% against Democrat Warner escaped by the skin of his teeth, but a win is a win
Wisconsin 39% for 50% against Republican Governor won

This will reappear in the SCOTUS brief challenging ACA.

I know the accepted thinking is that Obama would veto a repeal, and he surely would, but I say send it to him anyway and have a vote to override.
Then take note of which Democrat does not vote to override.
I'd love to see that.

Especially after the 2015 open enrollment period.

They'll surely find some way to try to blame it on Bush, or on conservatism in general. Those on the wrong will never take responsibility for the consequences of their own policies.

I agree, and have said much the same. There is talk of republicans senate passing a repeal through the reconciliation process that Democrats used to pass the bill. This would only require 51 votes. Does that then require 60 votes to get past a pres. veto?

BTW, here is, what I think, a good article on the topic. Gives some additional details, provides a decent path forward for republicans... and even claims Schumer is someone that has no idea about economics - Or at least Gruber makes that claim.

ACA Architect: 'The Stupidity Of The American Voter' Led Us To Hide Obamacare's True Costs From The Public - Forbes

In fairness to Gruber, American voters are not the only people whose intelligence he questions; elsewhere in the discussion, he describes New York Sen. Chuck Schumer (D.) as someone who “as far as I can tell, doesn’t understand economics” and calls a staffer for Sen. Olympia Snowe (Maine)—presumably William Pewen—an “idiot.”

IIRC, veto override requires two thirds = 67 Senators.

How not one liberal has come here to defend this is puzzling isn't it? Did they get caught with their pants down and everyone now knows that what those opposed to the bill had said all along is now exposed for all to see? This is pretty damning evidence of what many of us have been saying for quite some time.

Interesting stuff, Buck.
Schumer may be be an economics illiterate but he is a dedicated Leftist ... truly despicable and way too eager to replace Reid.

Unfortunately, like Jack mentioned, it still takes 67 votes to override a veto.
But keep in mind the Republicans will very likely start with 54 votes.
The situation may be so bad by then that getting 13 Democrats to vote to save their hide may not be out of the question.

BTW, has anyone seen this clip of Gruber on any cable or network outlet other than FOX?

3G defended it on another thread.
He said it was how politics works ... which is tantamount to "everybody does it", the last refuge of the desperate ... which is the result of that "getting caught with your pants down" thing you mentioned.
