Smoking it will be passe in a generation. Edibles and vaporizing are the trend.

Mmmmm....ya, maybe...I use a vaporizer about 90% of the time - not a fan of edibles, as I'm a medical user, and it's very difficult to guess at dosage, given how long it takes to kick in, you can overdo it easily.

But...everyone once in a while, it's still nice to smoke a joint. Or a bong. Or a pipe. Or a hollowed out pineapple with licorice straws.... hehe

In fact, there's very little in there that hasn't been debunked. And no mention of the health benefits and medicinal uses. Typical bull**** propaganda.

Sure it's one-sided, but compare that to what they were saying about it in the 80s, and it's becomes clear things are moving in the right direction.

I guess...I tend to be a little impatient around it, as I've seen a huge improvement in my life from the medical uses of it, but know a good number of people who would benefit from it but won't even consider it because of the continued stigma against it. It's just dumbassery, and I don't know who to be more angry at - the folks who have decided that it can't be included in their morality and that their morality should be applied to everyone, or the drug companies who stand to lose a lot if folks ever realize they can grow their own medicine.
 

It's definitely disgusting, but I've kinda given up on corruption like that.

In Los Angeles, the city is working with the medical operation to try to lock out the recreational companies that are slated to start statewide in a couple months.

But take heart! They recently had a city-hosted meeting in LA, or thereabouts for marijuana entrepreneurs to learn about the regulations. They expected a couple hundred to attend, but a couple thousand turned up.

I'm pretty confident that once the tax money starts rolling into CA, many other states will adopt similar law as quickly as they can. Demand it going to be far higher than they've anticipated.

This in turn will pressure the locals to pressure the state to pressure the feds to change regulations, to open up investment restrictions (possibly even to reschedule) and then we're off to the races.

I hate to say it, but Trump might actually turn out to be an ally to the cause, with his positions on regulation and encouraging investment He's also not especially concerned about his optics, which I believe has restrained other Presidents.
 

Well, I can understand the optics piece, so much time and money was spent convincing people that it was an evil scourge...

I wish you guys best of luck with it down there, it's going to be totally legal up here this time next year, so that's good - though even there, the continued stigma being pushed, even while legalizing it, is embarrassingly wrong minded. I don't particularly care about the recreational side of it, though having lived next to both stoners and drunks, I can tell you I'd take the stoners any day of the week...hehe...

I think folks will look back on pot prohibition the same way we look back on alcohol prohibition...not one of our finest or well thought out endeavors.

You're not wrong, but there's nothing inherently carcinogenic about marijuana smoke, as compared to any other smoke.

If you spend much time sitting in traffic, or have ever sat next to a campfire, that's worse for you lungs.
 
Questions that rise:

Can pot users remember the sex they had?
Can pot users stay awake during sex?
Can pot users smoke during sex? (think about the ambiguity of this question)
Can pot users get the munchies during sex, and if they do, then what do they munch?

Marijuana Smoke

Smoke is harmful to lung health. Whether from burning wood, tobacco or marijuana, toxins and carcinogens are released from the combustion of materials. Smoke from marijuana combustion has been shown to contain many of the same toxins, irritants and carcinogens as tobacco smoke.4-7

Beyond just what's in the smoke alone, marijuana is typically smoked differently than tobacco. Marijuana smokers tend to inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer than cigarette smokers, which leads to a greater exposure per breath to tar.8

Secondhand marijuana smoke contains many of the same toxins and carcinogens found in directly inhaled marijuana smoke, in similar amounts if not more.5 While there is no data on the health consequences of breathing secondhand marijuana smoke, there is concern that it could cause harmful health effects, especially among vulnerable children in the home. Additional research on the health effects of secondhand marijuana smoke is needed.

Lung Health and Marijuana Smoke

Smoking marijuana clearly damages the human lung. Research shows that smoking marijuana causes chronic bronchitis and marijuana smoke has been shown to injure the cell linings of the large airways, which could explain why smoking marijuana leads to symptoms such as chronic cough, phlegm production, wheeze and acute bronchitis.4,9

Smoking marijuana has also been linked to cases of air pockets in between both lungs and between the lungs and the chest wall, as well as large air bubbles in the lungs among young to middle-aged adults, mostly heavy smokers of marijuana. However, it's not possible to establish whether these occur more frequently among marijuana smokers than the general population.4

Smoking marijuana can harm more than just the lungs and respiratory system - it can also affect the immune system and the body's ability to fight disease, especially for those whose immune systems are already weakened from immunosuppressive drugs or diseases, such as HIV infection.4,9

Smoking marijuana hurts the lungs' first line of defense against infection by killing cells that help remove dust and germs as well as causing more mucus to be formed. In addition, it also suppresses the immune system. These effects could lead to an increased risk of lower respiratory tract infections among marijuana smokers, although there is no clear evidence of such actual infections being more common among marijuana smokers.4,9 However, frequent marijuana-only smokers have more healthcare visits for respiratory conditions compared to nonsmokers.

Have you ever been around someone with melanoma from too much sun? I have lost 2 friends for those reasons. Death is the natural end to life.

Yeah, and whose temporarily elevated heart rate, that sometimes happens, can hurt people? Obese folk who don't exercise.

If you take care of yourself in terms of exercise/food, that's not an issue. Not anymore than if you drink a bunch of coffee one morning....
