Donald Trump lies.. frequently. If you press him to give a statement on his lies, he will say... I QUOTE, "I don't stand by anything." then proceed to end the interview. His dishonesty has been woven into the American fabric. The cultural winds developing are composed of alternative facts and fake news. Since Trump has normalized deceit, are we living in a post-truth America? To specify will journalists be assumed to be lying always? Do we start from the position that our politicians are lying to us and work from there?
Deceitful politicians is not a new phenomenon. Americans are well accustomed to it. The last two famous lies from each respective administration were, "Saddam Hussein has WMD's" and "If you like your plan, you can keep it." Bush started from the position of Saddam Hussein has WMD's and set up independent intelligence commissions tasked with finding the evidence. Really if you look at American history objectively, you notice that the American "Good Guy" perception is a glass house, considering what we did to acquire our lands, and then our exploits in the 20th century to "spread democracy" and "contain communism". To me it is about setting up governments that are friendly to multinational corporations, for the purpose of resource extraction.
So, Americans are basically told to roll over and take it. Your government's corrupt...? So, what?! Grow up and sell out America! If we stand up for accountability we are shamed. If we ask for campaign finance reform, we're told it's impossible. Since, you get what you deserve, Donald Trump's ascendancy was written in destiny. The question remains, will the truth matter ever again? And does honesty matter to you?

Truth isn't really going to matter as long as America continues to be so divided. Both sides are so focused on their team winning they seem to be willing to ignore facts that they see as detrimental to their side. I absolutely hate the gas-lighting that is going on in this administration, and I find it disappointing that so many people don't care about reliable sources for information. The truth will matter again if we can get to the point where everyone can agree that reality exists. I'm not sure if it will get better or worse from here.
So you think it is a one way street? Sadder!Yep. As long as their side tells them what they want to hear, they do not care if it is true or not. Shame, but true.

^ right here.
Are we not counting chemical weapons as WMDs nowadays?
Going back to that time '02-'03, I sided with the anti-war people, and I didn't approve of the Iraq war. Nowadays, that position is a fashionable one.. then.. not so much. Bush's approval rating after he invaded Iraq jumped to like 80%. Trump said he "called the Iraq War" whatever that means. I think he did no such thing. For me, I didn't see enough evidence that Saddam was personally involved with 9/11 and the media was no help to me there.
I'm not trying to equate Bush to Trump's level of lying but, there is some evidence of people believing in false realities back then and that led to the Iraq war.
