(Politico) California moves to dismantle GOP map — and Trump’s grip

(lesson con.)

By default, the question of which map is better will always boil down to what the desired outcome is.

In other words, political interests cannot be separated where the lines are drawn.

Once you can get past that hurdle, the term "gerrymandering" is meaningless. It isn't a bad thing that districts are drawn politically, it's the only way they can be drawn.

You forgot a sarcasm tag.
No. I’ve lived in both red and blue states. I have businesses in both.
I grew up in a blue state and live now in a red state.

I received a way better education in the blue state than my children received in a red state.

The economy here is no where as good as in blue states .

The irony is people say “ but but people are leaving blue states in droves. Yep. Usually retirees who’ve been educated in a blue state and made their money in a blue state and retiree to a red state to take advantages of cheaper housing, lower taxes and cheaper labor.

Like retirees who’ve move to 2nd world countries like Mexico.

Think about it for more than a minute.

Sorry, not my experience. Raised in a blue state (NY). Watched WA go from red to blue while I lived there. Leftists have destroyed Seattle. MD was a shithole run by Democrats.

The Democrat controlled public schools in blue states continually fail their students. Look at the illiteracy rates in Chicago, NYC, Baltimore, etc.

Industry is moving to states such as Texas and Georgia due to beneficial taxes.

And the red states have much more individual freedom than the blue nanny states.

I still don't see it. Unless the democrats are going to move those republicans out of state, where are they going to put them? We'll see, as one of my favorite sayings which I use all the time, time will tell. That's interesting 4 seats for a group of voters that made up 38% of the electorate in California vs. 48 for 58% of the electorate. I suppose if you're a partisan that's great news. I don't blame the California democrats for trying this as the Texas republicans fired the first shot. Regardless though, I'm still against gerrymandering in any form.

Just catching up to the shit that the Democrats have been doing for decades.
MAGA Republicans are trying to demolish democracy. Your attempts to blame the Democrats for your authoritarian moves are pathetic.

Your "experience" is what you see through your biased filters. I live 10 minutes from downtown Seattle.
The Democrat controlled public schools in blue states continually fail their students. Look at the illiteracy rates in Chicago, NYC, Baltimore, etc.
Uh-huh. What's the illiteracy rate in Louisiana? Mississippi? The school district where I live, Shoreline, WA, just passed its school levy by 70%. Because of community support like that, our schools are great.
Industry is moving to states such as Texas and Georgia due to beneficial taxes.
Industry flourishes in communities that prize infrastructure and education. Seattle = Microsoft, Amazon, etc. California = Silicon Valley, Lockheed, etc. Seattle has grown so fast that we have severe housing shortages. People move to Texas because its polluted, exploited land is cheap.
And the red states have much more individual freedom than the blue nanny states.
Red states include the most backward, impoverished states in the union, with Mississippi leading the way. How much individual freedom do people making the minimum wage have?

How has MAGA helped them? By stripping them of health care? By closing down rural hospitals? By deporting the cheap labor that used to gather their crops and build their houses?
By slashing taxes on the rich while raising costs across the board with insane tariffs?

Did you enjoy the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone? Did you participate?

Are you talking about the Democrat cities of New Orleans and St Louis?

How about Baltimore? Chicago?

California isn't "so badly" gerrymandered. See Posts #113 & #315.
Republicans got 38% of the vote in CA and have 9 of 52 seats (17%). A more accurate representative would be 20 seats. CA is badly gerrymandered.

California isn't "badly" gerrymandered. California has competitive Congressional races. Six of the Congressional races there from last year's election were decided by less than 5 percentage points. 5 of those 6 were won by Democrats from that state. Three of those flipped from GOP to Dem. That is mainly why Democrats currently have 43 out of the 52 Congressional seats from that state.

Never said that did I? But I wasn’t the one bragging about abandoning his principles.

You tried that strategy with Kamala and the American people rejected your party.
Specify the low tactics used in the 2024 election by D's.

I'll give you an idea of what I'm talking about. A quarter billion dollars of unlawful political donations accepted with a smile.

Why should I respond to your questions when you've ignored mine?

Sorry but is fact.
The education I got in upstate NY was far and beyond what is available in my red state or any of the red states I lived in.
NY State also has the highest level of people with bachelors degrees .
However the number of immigrants that don’t speak English is high in nyc.
Approximately half of nyc doesn’t speak English as a native language.

So you can’t use English literacy as a great metric.

Industry is barely moving to places like Texas .
And most of it is due to being able to pay lower wages in red states.

Individual freedoms?
You mean like the right to choose what books are in your library?
What medical procedures you can have ?
?The right to marry another consenting adult?
What substances you can injector or smoke to help the nausea from chemo?
Or your glaucoma?

Now. I could hunt fish and own guns in ny state .
AND my patients could get a d and c to prevent them from getting an infection and dying.
AND my gay relatives could marry.
AND. My patients can use marijuana gummies to control their chemo induced nausea .

Sorry but red states think suddenly they are your DADDY!

We need to destroy the fascist party at all cost
