Police cars rammed, officer fires shot in West Kelowna Walmart parking lot

RCMP are looking for a 32-year-old West Kelowna man after a ramming incident in a West Kelowna parking-lot Saturday afternoon that involved a police officer firing a shot.

Around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday police got a tip that a man on the Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers most wanted list had been seen at West Kelowna Walmart on Louie Drive.

Police said they boxed-in the suspect’s pickup truck “which he then allegedly used to ram two police cars, in an apparent attempt to escape capture, ultimately pushing one into a civilian’s car causing minor damages.”

“The suspect vehicle allegedly drove at a high rate of speed towards one of the officers who had exited their vehicle on foot,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey wrote in a media release.

“Fearing that their partner could suffer serious injury or even death, a second officer discharged his firearm, the round is believed to have struck the driver side area of the Ford pickup truck.”

COMMENT:-

My gosh!!! ONE shot fired in a situation where there appeared to be actual danger to life and limb and it makes the front page of a national media source!!!

What is wrong with Canadians??

I mean there wasn't a single person who was actually injured or killed and their media goes all apes**t over one police officer (out of several on scene) firing ONE round at a known bad guy who was threatening to actually harm police officers. Hell, the bad guy didn't even shoot back!!!!

It really is true that "Canadians may look and sound like Americans but they really aren't the same." isn't it?

Its Canada...has less people than California and 10X? land.

Its probably hyped up from all the times a cop shot a fleeing car that wasnt trying to ram them. *shrugs* But ya if a suspect really does ram a car on purpose light him up.

Barney Fife moved to Canada?

"What is wrong with Canadians??"

Absolutely nothing ... just ask one.

So...they caught the guy...right? Or did they let a dangerous individual that attempted vehicular homicide get away?

I guess that the police didn't think that someone who was wanted on an arrest warrant (issued for failure to appear in court) arising out of an allegation of "theft under $5,000" was worth putting the surrounding people at risk.

PS - Where, in your local news, would "Police fire one shot but suspect flees without causing any injuries" rank?

#FakeNews, bud, our socialist MSM has blocked the true story, which involved multiple shots fired, including three helicopter mounted miniguns and an Abrams tank we stole from America during the Gulf War. 40 people died (or switched from Coke to Pepsi, details are unclear at this time), and 200 people still can't believe it's not butter. Also, robots.

So a man willing to run down a police officer isnt deemed a threat?

Are you saying he got away?

So far.

However, you appear to have missed one small point and that point is that the firing of a

SINGLE SHOT

is considered to be such a

BIG DEAL

that it was

FRONT PAGE NEWS

on a

**N*A*T*I*O*N*A*L**

basis.

What would it take to make the front page of FOX News (or CNN), on a NATIONAL basis, in the US? (Please specify number of fatalities.)

Do you detect a "slight" difference in attitude between the way that this story was treated in Canada and the way that an identical incident would have been treated in the US?

Have you ever given any thought to why this might be the case?

#FakeNews, bud, our socialist MSM has blocked the true story,

That only happened because Queen Elizabeth issued a Royal Decree ordering them to lie to the commoners.

40 people died (or switched from Coke to Pepsi, details are unclear at this time),...

That so-called "fact" is adamantly denied by the polling firm of Molson, Labatt, Alexander, Keith, Moose, and Head LLP.

... and 200 people still can't believe it's not butter.

Just because some people can't taste the BVDs (also known as "Stanfields" in Canada), BSEs, BSTs or rBGHs that the Americans put in their milk that doesn't mean that they aren't there.

Umm....did you miss the part where that is the lead story in the LOCAL news section?

:lamo

No no...I get it. In that same article there were links to people being killed...in the local community. And a Truck, ATV reported stolen. And frustration mounting over crime wave in North Okanagan town.

Because you are commenting on a LOCAL news story on the web site.

This post would have received a vigorous "BAHAHAHAHA", along with a couple emoticons, but since you failed to realize that Labatt owns Alexander Keith's, the rating has been downgraded to a "tee hee", and no emoticons, and you have to give me your car.

It was also in the "National" section.

How much attention do you think that a major American media outlet would have paid to an incident that resulted in one shot being fired (under unquestionably justified conditions) when there were no injuries or deaths?

Obviously your preferred media source never includes internal links to similar themed articles in its reporting.

Obviously you don't realize that they are keeping "Alexander" and "Keith" on the letterhead to supply "plausible deniability".

You can't have the car and you owe me an emoticon.

You’re the only one making a big deal of the single shot. The article simply mentions it as part of the whole story.

Relax, everything will be okay.
