Yea, I heard he was actually a really laid back, live-and-let-live kind of guy that wasn't really a cannibal but an ardent PETA vegan. And all this time I thought he was a blood-thirsty, mass murderer. Wow! Who knew?

I loved the idea of forcing city dwellers to relocate to the countryside to work in collective farms and forced labor projects, toward a goal of "restarting civilization" in a "Year Zero". Couldn't have known that the combined effects of slave labor, malnutrition, poor medical care, and executions would result in the deaths of an estimated 1.7 to 2.5 million people...

He also did good stuff.

How many of you know the United States trained the Khmer Rouge? My dad who was a Green Beret trained battalions of them. Of course this was before the Killing Fields and we were training them to fight the NVA's that were using their country as access to Vietnam.
