Playing golf can 'damage hearing'

Nope, those are still held in seedy strip clubs.
 
I've never heard a driver make anything remotley close to the sound of a "sonic boom" as this story suggests. The titanium drivers do have a more piercing sound though, but only if you hit them flush which is rare for non-pro golfers.
 
Has anybody ever heard of ear plugs? DUH......
 
Really quite useful at some of these business meetings!

Yah - something has to break the sound barrier to make a sonic boom. As good as newer clubs are, they don't give you a supersonic shot

Have you ever heard the Speed LD driver they are talking about in the article? That particular driver is annoyingly loud... it sounds like an aluminum baseball bat. A true "sonic boom" it is not, but it would not surprise me at all if the sound was truly causing hearing damage for certain people that play a lot.
 

Yeah, my brother in law plays a Speed LD driver. Its loud for a golf club, but its not something that makes you think you'd go deaf. Besides, I just got my Golf Digest Hotlist, and it looks like the muted sound of a driver is kind of making a comeback with designers.
 

Thank god. I have only heard them from across the range/course, not a fan. Sound is feel, and I just can't imagine bagging one of those things. My 425tp has great sound, and I'm hoping that the R9 will follow suit in that department since I am needing a new bigdog for this season.

Hoping that my issue of the hotlist is waiting at home for me.
 

I play a Taylormade Burner. Great golf club IMO.
