One iconic image by The Times' Doug Mills managed to capture the split-second moment a speeding bullet was seen mid-air next to Trump’s head at the rally. The photo was one of several he captured that day that earned him one of the most prestigious awards in journalism.
 
Good for him, it was a great picture. Great opportunity for the photographer.
 
My first impression was that it was a contrial.
Impressive that they managed to get a photo like that and interesting how the bullet appears stretched out due to the way cameras work. Would love to know more about the camera and its settings but the article just said a wide angle lens
 
Absolutely dumb luck. Absolutely nothing there that justifies an award.
Exactly my first thought. Sitting there snapping away and just happened to hit the shudder at the right millisecond.

Awards for dumb luck photography is well,... dumb.
